My Diary - Execution of the *A child A Million Smile Project*

It is said that a hungry man is an angry man. That is an obvious truth. The evidence of such truth is abundant everywhere.

People are aggressive, ready to devour each other at the slightest mistake. Children are not left out in this crazy demeanor. Many children go hungry, even to eat a squaremeal a day is almost impossible.

Little wonder we see many children of primary school age on the roads and streets hawking in other to help raise money which can be used to buy food in the family.

If you go to many schools, especially public schools, we will see empty classrooms attesting to the fact that the kids are no more coming to . school.

Let us think about this, how can a child come to school with empty stomach? How do we expect the child to comprehend when being taught? That is simply not possible.

A CHILD A MILLION SMILE PROJECT

We can now see why this project came at the nick of time. Providing as much as we can to these children can actually make a difference in their lives. Despite all agricultural innovations and engineering to boost food production in the world, yet the rate of hungry people continues to increase in an alarming rate.

Great thanks to @worldsmile through @smilenigeria and @steemkidss for coming up with this wonderful initiative. Even though it will not reach every child facing hunger, it will help some of them too.

Visiting Schools

I was opportuned to visit some schools with @ngoenyi and @bossj23 to inform them of the projects desire to feed their primary wards.

The first school received us with open arms even though the overall hea was not on seat. However they promised to relay it to her and inform us of their decision via phone.

We visited other schools too. Some gave us the green light while others had some reservations. We were told to reach out to the primary school board to get approval before executing this projects in public schools.

We went to the school board, met the permanent Secretary and she told us what to do after which the chairman will consider and decide whether to give an approval or not.

Despite that we got a school that is ready for us next week.

PROJECT EXECUTION DAY.

We started off preparation from as early as 4am in the morning. Helping lives demands sacrifice and that was exactly the case that morning. I and @ngoenyi started preparation of the food and by 7:30am we were done.

We now left for the school by 10:30am since we wanted to execute it during break time.

We went with @leosmart who also helped out at the cooking spot. Others like @bessie2023, @okereblessing, @goodybest, @alli001, @kidi40, @nsijoro, @bossj23 met up with us at the school venue.

The children lined up in an orderly manner to receive the food distribution.

You can now see the happy faces of the children. To some of them, it was actually a dream coming true. One of the kids said i used to see this on the television, but now it is a reality. Another student said he had not eaten since morning till that time.

I really felt for the young child.

The school management was happy, the children were happy and the crew of steemians who came were also delighted.

We all left the school happy and satisfied that we have accomplished our first mission of putting a smile on the children. A CHILD A MILLION SMILE PROJECT.
