Do your definition of terms i.e Pain and gain.

Pain:- Pain is anything that hurts and causes discomfort to an individual. This discomfort can be experienced either physically, emotionally mentally and internally. The reaction of people to pain varies from individual to individual since it could be expressed in various ways.

Some of the pains may not be noticed by others, it may be mild and sometimes very dangerous and visible.

Gain: - gain simply means something that is of advantage to you. It also means profit, the acquisition of something or an increase in magnitude of something. When something is a gain to you, that means an addition or plus to what you have already.

When it is used in terms of buy and selling, it means an increase in price when compared to the purchasing price.

What do you understand by the statement.

No pain No gain is an idiomatic phrase majorly used to explain a situation where you cannot get anything good without experiencing hardship or hard times or putting in hard work.

That to attain to success in anything we do, we must experience some pains( hard work) to achieve that. That is to say that there is no reward without hard work.

I would say yes and no. This is so because individuals and circumstance vary.

YES answer:-
It is generally not easy to make a living this days. Jobs are difficult to get so it requires real effort and hard work to earn money. Some people hawk and sell under the rain and sun just to put food on the table. That demands so much hard work.

For those in the field of sports, much discipline and hard work is required to become a successful athlete.

A student needs to put in much effort in reading and studying in order to be successful in his exams.

So in so many things, no pain (hard work) no gain ( positive result and success).

No answer: - There are few persons in life who gets what they want on a platter of gold. They do not need to invest or engage in hard work before becoming successful. For those set of people, the Idiom is not applicable to them

Share an experience for or against the statement.

I had a friend who was a student of a university. He came from a very really poor background. Attending the university was purely possible due to his hard work. I remember he missed practical classes most at times to do labourers job at a construction site just to eat and pay his school fees.

It was really bad, but he graduated finally with a good grade, he took up whatever employment that came his way, while he also drove a taxi to meet up with his obligations .

However, he was fortunate to struggle and find his way up the ladder. It came with so many pains and sacrifices on his part to succeed in life.

He is an example of a person that fulfills that phrase No pain No gain.
