Love Is In The Air
Love is such a beautiful thing to experience by anyone It’s not just about grand gestures or fancy gifts as the generation of my time portray it but about the warmth in selfless service, care to another fellow and little moments that make life special to anyone at need. Valentine’s Day is one of those times when love feels almost tangible but at same time doubtful as to if all the good things around you are but illusion.
it’s in the laughter of friends sharing stories that brighten each other face and heart, in the way an elderly couple holds hands while strolling in the park and even in the small acts of kindness from strangers❤️❤️❤️
For me, Valentine’s Day is not just about romance as the the generation of my time is portraying it; it’s about celebrating love in all its forms—romantic, platonic, familial and even self-love you name them. It’s about appreciating the people who bring joy into our lives and making them feel valued.
What Valentine’s Day Means to Me
Growing up I always thought Valentine’s Day was just for couples and don't blame me for my ignorance lolz. Cause, the society within me portray it so to me not until I researched to know more. It was then I get to learn. On another angle, I had thought valentine to be a kind you see in movies where someone gets surprised with a candlelit dinner or a bouquet of red roses. I mean, movies really mess my point of view on valentine as well. The older I become, the more I realized it’s much more than that romantic gestures.
One of the most memorable Valentine’s Days for me was when I was in college. To be precise, and that was in my year 1. My friends and I were all single at the time, and while many of our coursemate were out on dates, we decided to do something different. We task each other a sum of two thousand naira only (2,000) each and put it together, and in total, it sum up to 20k and went ahead to bought a bunch of snacks and little gifts, and visited an orphanage nearby. You need this see the joy and happiness on those kids faces as I believe, maybe it unusual to see people of our age range turning up for them when most takes the moment for romantic gestures. Among the items we give to them were chocolates, teddy bears, clothes and toys and this to them was priceless as we all could read the joy on their faces. They weren’t expecting anything, I guess must be their reason for over excitement and their excitement always reminded me that love is about making others feel special either in a big or small way as long as it touches thier needs and mostly comes from who, where and when they didn't even expect one, it shouldn't just be about romantic gestures as my generation try to portray.
Since then, I’ve always believed that Valentine’s Day should be about spreading love in all directions to foster a more peaceful world—not just to a partner but to friends, family, and even strangers who might need a little kindness.
My Best Valentine’s Day Experience
If I had to choose my absolute best Valentine’s Day... If u are a good guesser, it would be the one I spent with my mum. I mean, she has been there for myself and four siblings when my dad pass on so early in our life. That year, I decided to surprise my mum with a handwritten letter expressing my gratitude towards her unwavering sacrifices to see us well fed, educated, clothing and in time of medical needs. I had never really taken the time to tell her how much she meant to me in words, and I figured Valentine’s Day was the perfect opportunity.
I remember waking up early to prepare her favorite breakfast—pancakes and coffee for her while she was still napping. I placed my letter on the plates I used to served her breakfast and waited nervously for her reaction. When my mom started reading, she teared up and show emotions I rarely see in her but in the midst of all the emotion, she gave me a tight hug and say to me "I find comfort in you." I have been trying my best to stay committed keeping her comforting 🥹🥹
That moment taught me that love isn’t just about romantic relationships as my generation portrays it. Sometimes, the purest form of love is the one we receive from our parents—the people who have loved us unconditionally from the very beginning.
Looking Forward to This Year’s Valentine
This year, I’m excited about Valentine’s Day cause who wouldn't want to share in such moment that hold memories for everyone who share in love? but not for the usual reasons. I’m not expecting flowers as most people would, nor chocolates, or a candlelit dinner though is fun and memorable. Instead, I’m looking forward to spending the day intentionally appreciating the people in my life such as my mum @edu-chemist | @basil20 who share their impact me without expecting nothing in return. Maybe I’ll call up an old friend I haven’t spoken to in a while, treat my younger sibling to a surprise gift ❤️I can't wait to see her smile at her new gift I am budgeting for or even just spend some time writing heartfelt messages to the people who have made an impact on me since from my day one.
I also love seeing how others in unusual way would celebrate love on this day. It’s in the little things we do that we all can truly see the real love in celebrating valentine—the way a husband surprises his wife with breakfast in bed, the way kids exchange handmade Valentine’s cards at school or even the small, unnoticed moments like someone leaving an encouraging note on a colleague’s desk. Love truly is in the air and it’s beautiful to witness it with your love ones.
My Valentine on Steemit
If I had to pick a Valentine friend on Steemit, it would be someone who spreads positivity, uplifts others, and makes this platform feel like a home though I am yet to meet and get so close to the thousands steemians here. I am thrilled at @basil20 and @edu-chemist as they both have shown me unwavering love. There are so many amazing users who do this, but one person who stands out to me is them both. Their posts always carry a sense of warmth, encouragement, and sincerity both in their chat and phone calls with me.. Whether it’s through thoughtful comments, engaging discussions or just being a supportive presence. they make this space feel welcoming to me in a way that makes me feel special.
Valentine’s Day is not just about celebrating love in the traditional sense but more it’s about recognizing and appreciating the people who make a difference in our lives of course, that is the real sense of valentine. Whether it’s a partner, a friend, a parent, or even an online community member, love is all around us❤️.
This year, lValentine’s Day should be make to be more than just gifts and dinner dates. Let’s make it about genuine connections, heartfelt conversations and spreading kindness wherever we go. Because at the end of the day, love is not just in the air but it’s in the little things we do every day.
I invite my friends in the name of @edu-chemist | @basil20 | @imma23 |
