Today my topic will be base on Ammonification, Nitrification, and Dentrification in plants.

Ammonification
Ammonification is the decaying process of organisms. When a plant or animal dies, decomposer like fungi and putrefying bacteria act on the dead organic matter and release carbon (iv) oxide and ammonium compounds. In other words, we can say that ammonia is released from amino acid during the decomposition of proteins. Animals excretes nitrogenous wastes such as urea, uric acid and ammonia. Urea and uric acid are converted into ammonium compound and carbon (iv) oxide by the action of some fungi and putrefying bacteria. This process is called Ammonification.

Nitrification
Nitrification is the process by which ammonia change into nitrate. This is done by the action of bacteria. Ammonium compounds formed by the putrefying bacteria and fungi are oxidized by the action of nitrate bacteria ( nitrosomas ) to soluble nitrate forms, which are further oxidized by nitrate bacteria ( nitrobacter) and fungi to soluble nitrate. This soluble nitrate is thus absorbed by plants and is used for making and amino acid nucleic acid and chlorophyll.

Dentrification
It is the reverse process of nitrification in the process of dentrification, nitrite and nitrate are reduced to molecular nitrogen gas by the action of certain bacterial and fungi. This molecular nitrogen is escape into the atmosphere or added to the soil and is lost from the cycle. It is therefore noted dentrification is a process by which nitrogen is lost from this soil, whereas during ammonification and nitrification, nitrogen is fixed into the soil.

Unfortunately, human being interference has altered the nitrogen cycle.
