Why me? asked the people. The wailing, pain, anger, and disbelief were seen in one scene yesterday. It was as if an expensive treasure was lost. Yes, an expensive treasure was lost, and it was impossible to get it back.
Death is just one painful thing that can happen to anyone, especially when it involves someone who hasn't really experienced life. Let me give you a breakdown of what I'm saying in detail.
It all started when I heard the news that a lady I knew was about to be swallowed by the ground. She kicked the bucket due to some illness she has been battling with, and this lady is someone who just graduated from a tertiary institution last year. So painful 😣.
No one could ever believe such. She's just 32 years old, but imagine hearing that. This is not a new case, though. We've been hearing of the deaths of students on campus and outside. Death, the greatest enemy of man, has brought grief and tears.
This is the dead when she was alive during her POP in youth Service. She said how beautiful she looked. Now, she's not among the living anymore. The ground has claimed another soul, never content. How did it go?
pictures gotten from her Facebook account
As sympathisers, we took to leaving our homes to comfort the bereaved and to be there for them, as it wasn't going to be a huge funeral. It was with pain in our hearts that we took to being with the nephew of the bereaved. He was so short on words and expressions. Someone he invited to come for convocation last month is now dead. What really happened is unknown.
The location of the funeral was at Ekit itam akpan obong. When we arrived there after passing through rough enroute, we entered the hall, where she was laid in front in a coffin. Seeing the coffin moved the relatives to tears more and more. We, as sympathisers, were there to render comfort. The holy scriptures say:
Rejoice with those who rejoice and Weep with those who Weep.
We were weeping with the bereaved and, at the same time, rendering comfort to them, as two people can't weep physically. If this happens, who will comfort who? The essence of our being in the hall was to receive reassuring words from the holy scriptures concerning the dead. The faithful man Job asked a question while he was on earth....
If a man dies, can he live again? I will wait all day long till my relief comes.
He had faith and hope that a God, loving, kind, and righteous in his judgement will bring back those who have died to life. So we would see Promise again being brought back to life in perfect health. Other reassuring words that followed were instances of how Jesus demonstrated the fact that the dead would be brought back to life, and he did show how possible this was by using power from his father.
This touched my heart deeply and gave me hope that I'll see my dear loved ones who have died in God's New World. The scriptures always provide comfort to the weak and brokenhearted. Even with this hope, it wasn't that easy to let go of someone you love so much. It's normal to grieve, no doubt, but subsequently, your faith will bolster your assurance.
I can remember the case of a couple who got married. It wasn't up to 4 days in their marital home when the wife got bitten by a big dog, and before she was rushed to the hospital, she was already barking like a dog and died eventually. I can feel the husband's anguish. I don't know if he's still alive with such trauma and experience. But I'm very confident that one day, the God of love will bring his wife back to life.
After the comforting speech and prayers, the coffin was taken to the graveyard. Promise was about to be covered for the ground to consume. See Promise.... The tears were quite unbearable at the graveyard........I felt it too. It was just so overwhelming. The reactions, mood from friends, tears from relatives and family members, and other sympathisers showed she would be missed.
Promise Is dead and buried. There's nothing anyone can't do about it except God intervenes. The hope that we will see her back in perfect health is what we'll keep as memories of her.
If you have lost a loved one, remember that God has memories of the person in mind. There'll surely be a resurrection the way Jesus resurrected his friend Lazarus. If a man should die, can he live again? The answer is Yes

Wow. It's good to know you have the same faith as I do. I can't wait to see those who have died bring brought back to life in perfect health and those faithful men and women in the past who died. I'll love to see Jephthah in the Bible.....
