How do you explain CS to a layman understanding?

Cesarean Section(CS) is a safer way of child delivery when a danger of virginal delivery is perceived, for the safety of both baby and mother.
The danger perceived could be

• The baby is too big and to avoid suffocation at delivery CS is the best option.
• if the baby is in a breech position
• when the baby has overstayed the Estimated date of delivery (EDD)
• in general when there are any complications with the baby or mother.

In this process of, CS a cut is given to the mother on the abdomen to get the baby out

Do you think CS should be a choice /right or as the situation demands?

In my own opinion, I think CS should be as the situation demands, that is When there is the threat of losing the life of either a mother or child or both. But if pregnancy is progressing smoothly there should be virginal birth.

Although I have heard of some women going for CS even when there is no complication with their pregnancy. Their reason is that they can't stand the pain of labour. Anyway, I understand not everyone can stand the pain.

But if you can stand the pain of labour and there are no complications with your pregnancy, CS should not be a Choice.

A lot of negative beliefs and things have been said by some people about giving birth through CS, which has created fear in people and also made some people shy away from CS. It has made most women who gave birth through CS cannot come out bold and talk about it.

There is this belief that women who gave birth through CS could not withstand labour pain, but that's not true every form of delivery has its pain. The recovery pain of CS is equal to labour pain.

Another belief is once you start with the CS type of delivery, that is how you will give birth to all your children. But the truth is you can still give birth through the virginal if you heal properly because CS is a major surgery that requires time to heal say 2 to 3 years once you space your next pregnancy to that time frame and if there is no complication in your next pregnancy, you are good to go. But always seek your doctor's advice for a proper guide.

What is your advice to that person who is refusing this process because of what people will say?

My advice to such a person is to consider the life of your baby and your own life. CS is like an alternative or plan B when a plan A has failed. Please never refuse CS when the situation is life-threatening, and never feel less about what people say.

Giving birth through CS makes you a warrior because you fought to make sure you and your baby stayed alive.

Will you support your sister, and wife to Choose CS in case of any emergency during childbirth? Or you allow her to wait until the due time.

I will support 100 per cent once there is an emergency without any delay. Because any delay will be disastrous for both mother and child.
I have a close relative who lost her baby due to a delay. The doctor told the family that the baby's movement had reduced and that the next option was CS.

They kept considering whether to go in for CS or wait for a little to see if the baby would come out on its own. After much delay, It still ended in CS but fortunately baby did not make it alive. It was a very regrettable incident.

Please let's not see CS as a taboo but rather as a solution to problems that have taken so many lives in the past
