Hello friends, I'm so happy to share my thoughts in this great contest. It is really a blissful theme to talk about and I would be more than happy sharing my thoughts in this community.

"What were the lies you believed while growing up?"

While growing up a lot of us believed alot of lies, adulthood opened our eyes to the great beneficial truth we realized. It was really alarming. One of the kies we believe was that when we licked oranges if we swallowed the seeds they would most definitely grow on our heads. In other words we would have an orange tree on our heads if we swallowed the seeds in the oranges while licking them.

This was intriguing, I never wanted an orange tree on my had, I therefore licked oranges in isolation and less often. There was an alarming incidence when my sister was having oranges, I came from behind and tickled her, she swallowed orange seeds, plenty of them. Her brows raised and she started crying and shouting, I had done it again! My mother called from the living room, the report was made.

That day was really hurtful for me, I was told to get on my knees and keep praying for my sister not to grow an orange tree on her head. This was really alarming and yet tasking. I kept sobbing and praying for her till I slept off on my knees... I could never forget that day in a jiffy.

Moreso, we were instructed never to stand in front of a mirror whistling at night. The tales about ghost was so alarming and any intuition of creaking movement at nights spurred up curiosity 🧐 I never whistled in front of a mirror. It was believed that a ghost would appear from the shadows at night and drag you into the mirror reflection down to the underworld. We dreaded it so dearly and kept our distance. Yet another epoc lie given us as kids.

Importantly, we were told if our milk tooth fell off, it must be thrown to the roof top, for the lizards to have it, in other for new ones to grow up. If you don't throw it to the roof top, your tooth would remain open. It was really an alarming tale. I indeed adhered to the action and it turned out that it was a fat lie. These were some of the childhood lies fed us and I must say it really shaped our lives as kids.

"What was your reaction after finding out the truth as a adult?"

It was as though a veil was fallen my eyes. I can now see clearly the fact that we were always lied to, to keep us scared as diligent in all we do. I just shake my head and laugh it off. I felt I was really fooled as a kid. Well when I asked my parents, they always said it was to keep us disciplined. Well I now see how much it shaped our lives. Most importantly it made me smile though seeing that the lies kept us from some things and shaped our adulthood to what it I today, being somewhat quite wholesome.

"Do you subscribe to telling lies to young mind in a bid to protect them or do you choose to call a spade a spade?"

Children are always inquisitive to learn, therefore in most cases lies satisfy their curiosity. The lies end their questions and I believe hiding these truth in some way keeps these kids disciplined and more focused on their goals. Most of the kids cannot handle basic information till they are mature enough to get the full information. I see it as a great idea keeping them from it.

You can keep the spade from their reach till they are mature enough to use the spade keep these facts from them to enable them focus on the basic things they should know as pertaining to excelling in education and a while lot of other achievements. I do love these contests and would participate more often.

¡Holaaa amigo!🤗
