SEC WK2 : The language in my country

Language is either spoken, written or in form of signs by which human being express or communicate to one another especially to people of same group. Language brings about bond and according to the Scripture in Genesis 11:1-9, it portraits the unity among the people due to the same language they speak and also as steemites, we speak the same language by applying and obeying the rules set for this platform like; NO PLAGIARISM, AGI CONTENT, VOTING BOTS and the likes (lol).

WHAT IS THE NAME OF YOUR COUNTRY AND HOW MANY LANGUAGES CAN BE FOUND IN YOUR COUNTRY?

*I am a citizen of NIGERIA.

Nigeria is a country located at the Western part of Africa with 250-300 ethnic groups and majorly 3 languages which are; Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa but there are about 300-400 different languages. These 3 major languages(Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa) berthed every other languages spoken. I'm a Yoruba lady and yet, there're some particular state in my country like the ISEYIN, IJEBU, IJESA, ONDO, OSUN, OYO and the likes, when they speak in their tongue, I'll be almost sold out before realising it's thesame yoruba language but in another native tongue. Same goes with Igbo and Hausa.

AMONG THE LISTED LANGUAGES, HOW MANY ARE YOU FAMILIAR WITH?

I'm familiar with 3-5 of these languages although, that's not good but seriously, if you're not so careful having a discerning ear, you'll be so lost among those you tends to call your YORUBA, IGBO or HAUSA members due to diverse native tongues. One thing i love about these languages is that;

• They can so sound funny when spoken,

• Easy to learn when you mingle,

• And direspecting depending on the native tongue

HOW HAS THESE LANGUAGES INCREASED/IMPROVED YOUR LIFE AND BUSINESS?

Learning is growing! When you learn a new thing today, automatically you're a step higher/above others. Learning new languages create positive bonds which have so much helped me. Some years back at my former institution, we the students mostly buy our foods stuffs from the Hausa guys who have come to expand their business in a Yoruba land. Anytime we got there, the guys will surely greet us in their native tongue and we'll also reply back by repeating the same thing they've said and most times they'll correct us and i ask for most times the meaning of what they said and Unconsciously, while joking with these languages It sticks! These brought about strong relationship between us and there was increase in customer that buys from the Hausa guys.

ARE YOU WILLING TO TEACH YOUR CHILDREN THESE LANGUAGES? STATE YOUR REASON.

Yes ooo! In as much my mother taught me well, i must also duplicate the same to my children. Histories of how the languages came about, the culture of each native tongues and many others most especially to bind in love.
