Let's show how creative you are:- Drawing - Starfish

Compliments of the season to all creative members of steem4Nigeria, I hope we are all in the spirit of celebration. I can't fail to appreciate @benton3 for another opportunity to show my drawing prowess tho not a perfect one. This week, we will be drawing a starfish and you will learn some things about a starfish from me.

My drawing materials

• I drew the two upper hands of the starfish first.

• My next step was completing the arms of the starfish

• Then the next step was drawing the spines of the starfish. This was done in a zigzag way round all the arms of the starfish.

•My fourth step was drawing lines in the body of the starfish and also drawing the scales on the body.

• My final step was sketching it and putting finishing touches on my starfish andy starfish was good to go.

• Starfish are organisms that resemble a star shape. They can also be called sea stars and they are found in the sea. They are invertebrates because they do not possess a backbone. There are about 1,900 species of starfish and they come in various colours like red, orange, grey, brown or blue. Starfish produce sexually and asexually. They tend to have an average lifespan of 10 to 35 years. I have never seen a starfish before except online and I don't think I would love to eat it.

Starfishes are very unique die to their regenerative abilities. If a starfish loses a limb, it can regenerate the lost part with time. In a case where a lost limb contained the body of the starfish, it can survive and recover from injuries through this regenerative abilities. Starfishes live in seawater and it is impossible for them to live in a fresh water habitat because they have to maintain a delicate internal electrolyte balance that is in equilibrium with seawater. They are sensitive creatures and they get dehydrated and starved of oxygen very fast when removed from their environment. They may not even survive being exposed to air.

Starfish eat other fishes like cams, oysters, arthropods, algae, small fish, snails. They can also absorb organic nutrients from the surrounding water. They have the ability to digest food outside the body, and they can hunt prey much larger than their mouths. They do not have defined sense organs, but they are sensitive to touch and light.

• A starfish is an organism that has the shape of a star and lives in the ocean while a kite is made from paper or cloth and attached to a rope and it is used for flying.

• A starfish is made in the shape of a star while a kite is in triangular or diamond shape.

• A starfish is nature made and leaves in the sea, and it is eaten by some people while a kite is meant for recreational or entertainment purpose.
