Marriage as a whole and a unit need certain appealing qualities to last. Some deficiencies in marriage can tear it down that's why there's a great need for transparency in marriages today although it's ignored and considered by some marriage mates as unnecessary.

"A man once said a woman has no Access to his private life". It's true to some extent, but not all activities of your life should be private especially in marriage. Marriage is a unit and the marriage mates involved are one. What's transparency in marriage and why does it matter?

The word transparency may sound weird to most but it's commonly used in marriages. Why? The word Transparency is drawn from the word Transparent. We all know that anything that's transparent is visible. To illustrate; A glass window in our houses is clean and clear to the point that we can easily see what's happening outside and sun rays can easily pass through.

Your ability to see things outside and light can come in makes it transparent, nothing is hidden. So to define, transparency is a quality of being open, clear and honest about informations, thoughts, intentions and actions. It's the ability to see through certain things without any hidden elements. This quality helps promote trust, unity and accountability.

My humble opinion although I'm not married is that, transparency should be a sole part of relationships, friendships and marriage in particular. Imagine your friend or marriage mate hides something bad from you and you later came to find out, you'll barely trust that personnel.

Transparency is like having an honest and open conversation with your partner. The need for transparency in marriages is that the quality helps foster trust and deepens the connection between marriage mates. It reduces misunderstandings in marriages and allow you understand each other better instead of doubting who your marriage mate is.

In as much as being transparent doesn't mean you share every detail of your life with your mate, being open about the most important thing that affect your relationship is what matters. Transparency, not only in marriage help create a solid foundation for a fulfilling and healthy relationship.

This depends on personal decisions although the following are guides to action one can take when such happens. Some people address the matter by breaking up or filing a divorce form not ready to hear what gave rise to such. When such happens, it's wise to act in a constructive manner.

Try to understand why the person kept such secret which could be fear, shame, etc and encourage your mate to be open next time. In some cases where the reasons aren't valid like sexual immorality or otherwise, you can choose to remain with her if she's truly repentant.

• Talk to your mate about the importance of being open in communication and trust

• Set guidelines or boundaries together if necessary that both mates agrees on sharing information.

• Rebuild trust with your mate although it may not be that easy because of one incident. This would help the marriage grow as well.

Instead of looking for ways to apportion blames or end the relationship, I'll rather look for ways for us to amend, rebuild trust and strengthen the bond, thereby fostering transparency in the relationship.

There's a saying, ninety nine days for the thief, one day for the owner. Truth can never be hidden forever no matter how much you want to conceal it. One day, the cat must be let out of the bag.

In conclusion, transparency is an essential gem in any relationship. For it to last, mates must trust each other in words and actions and this can only be possible if you're open in your dealings with each other.
