Greetings distinguished Steemians and lovers of latest happenings, @xkool24 has made us cross paths again and I will be telling us two important events. The first is the ongoing Secondary school football competition in Uyo and the second is Physical and Health Education Departmental Day Celebration in uniuyo.

Social media platforms, radio headlines and students discussions recently is channeled towards the ongoing State Secondary Schools Invitational Football Tournament that is organized by the Akwa Ibom State Football Association in collaboration with the state secondary Education board, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.

The competition kick started on the 27th of February 2025 and is scheduled to end on the 11th of March 2025 with four teams fighting endlessly to get the trophy home in the male category while in the female categories, we have only two teams.

The following secondary schools in Akwa Ibom State are involved in the male category competition and they include;

Methodist Boys high School Oron	Community Comprehensive Secondary School, Four Towns	State College, Ikot Ekpene	Uyo High School

For the female categories, their match is a straight way to finals. The two teams involved are;

West Itam Secondary School, Itam	Community Secondary School, Aka Offot

So far, the semi finals matches has been played all in the city of Uyo and two teams has been set aside to play in the finals. It is recorded that on the 27th of February 2025, Community Secondary School, Four towns demolished the Methodist Boys school who came all the way from Oron in a 4 - 1 victory. The goals where scored by S. Bassey, K. Aaron, J. Effiong and Etteobong of the Community Secondary School while J. IYohokwa scored for the Methodist Boys' high School.

On the 28th of February 2025, Uyo High School emerged Victorious in a 4:1 penalty shoot out against the State College Ikot Ekpene Boys after Playing 2-2 after the 90th minutes. These two matches pave way for the finals of both the male and female categories as follows

Teams:	West It am Secondary School vs Comm. Sec. Sch. Aka Offot

Venue:	Uyo Township stadium

Time:	1:00pm

Date:	11th March 2025

For the male category,

Teams:	Uyo High School l vs Comm. Sec. Sch. Four towns

Venue:	Uyo Township stadium

Time:	3:00pm

Date:	11th March 2025

Other vital information

The matches are held with the sole aim of rekindling secondary school football in the state as well as catching and scouting young hidden players.

The matches did not have any payments as all students and spectators viewed the matches free of charge

Though it is difficult to truly tell why the choice of only four teams in the tournament, since the competition is tagged "Invitational", there's no doubt that the organizers had reasons for inviting these selected secondary schools.

The Department of Physical and Health Education, University of Uyo holds 2025 department's Day.

As the culture of the department has always been, the department held their 2025 departmental day on the 25th of February 2025. This event is always an event held in high esteem by members of the department as well as the university of Uyo community at large. This annual event is always used to remind the good people of Nigeria about the diverse cultures we have and the joy that would abound if all these cultures would come together as a family.

Unlike the previous years, this year came from a different dimension as it ushers in event such as the Ekpo masquerade presentation, Cultural dances presentation as well as the ballad presentation. The event was held at University of Uyo Town Campus just behind the students' affair divisions. Notable personalities include; their Head of Department, departmental president and other highly recognized dignitaries invited.
