Hello there, my fellow steemit friends. Happy New Year to you all. I know we all have plans and goals for this year, let's all see to that and God will perfect everything for us. In my article today, I will be writing about "The New Year", in this, I will be writing about how we celebrate the new year in my tradition, my plans and goals for the year, my new year resolutions and things I aim to achieve this year.

My New Year Tradition and Customs

I am a Nigerian, a native of Ikot Akpatek in Onna Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. I reside at Mbierebe Obio in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. New Year in Akwa Ibom State is highly valued. In my state, different traditions sets the new year day as a celebration day. In different villages, like where I live, the new year day is seen as the mbierebe day. A lot of events happens that day. People go out to watch cultural dance, games are also played on that day.
We also see different masquerade that day. A lot of masquerade comes out, display some moves in order to entertain the masses.

Children becomes happy and excited when the children masquerade comes out. Sometimes, the village head comes out to give a speech. This are my favorites new year traditions.

My New Year Resolutions and Goals

I have a lot of goals which I wish to achieve this year. I will also work hard to achieve them this year. My first goal is passing my upcoming first semester examination. I also want to have a new phone this year, make a lot of money to pursue my education, and involve myself in the works of God.
My new year resolution is to be focused, and be determined. With Consistency, I know I will achieve a lot.

New Year Eve Celebration

I can remember when I travel to my village to celebrate my new year. It was fun. A lot of things happened. The new year Eve celebration started around 4pm.

The cultural dance performed there was amazing. I saw a lot of masquerade that day. It was fun. We saw people playing games to win money, we saw children playing masquerade songs and dancing around. I witnessed some masquerade dancing high with a long stick. They didn't fall off, it was amazing. I wondered how long they were able to do such things. The celebration lasted till 7pm. This was one of my memorable new year eve celebration.

How I feel about the concept of New Year, New Me

I am always happy whenever I go into a new year. First, I all give all the credit to God for keeping me throughout last year and making me see a new year. I am always happy when I see a new year. I embrace the new year, new new me concept a lot, this is because, I always see myself going higher, learning new things every year new year. When I was a small child, I was always happy when I enter a new year because I will enter a new class, have a new shoe, clothes and many other things. This is why I embrace the new year, new me concept.

What I Wish Myself And Others In The Coming Years

My wish for myself and others is to soar higher, achieve more things and dwell in the blessings of God. In the coming years, I wish God grants us our heart desires and take us to the place of our fulfillment.
