Warm greetings beloved steemains. How is the cold weather treating us? I hope we are trying everything possible to stay warm. I'm grateful to God Almighty for a brand new day. I remain your favorite girl @enyddy.
I see contest in this steemain communities as a medium of expressing one's view to things and also learning from other people views.
And I found it a privilege to join this contest. Thank you so much @xkool24 for making this one possible.
So the event that recently happened around my neighborhood was the 'THE GOING HOME TO THE GREAT BEYOND OF AN ICON (CSP RTD).
It was indeed a day to celebrate the life well spent. On like other funeral gathering where you will see so many crying and rolling on the floor, the reverse was the case of this beloved mother, and Grand - mother. Even when we not from the same family, God used this woman to affect my life positively.
And so very early in the morning about 6:30am, I arrived the compound to join with other women to go and carry Mma's corpse from the mortuary. That, we did with so much joy, singing, shouting and dancing. When we approach the compound, we hand over to the Nigerian police who were at the ready to receive the corpse of their retired Chief Superintendent of police. With all the final honour and right, Mma's corpse was matched into the compound.
After the lying in state, the police officers were given time for placement of accoutrements. Mama's coffin was decorate by the police flag, the shoes, the hat and the sword.
At the end of that activity, the church took over properly. It was the moment of singing and dancing and appreciation to God for the impactful life well spent.
Goodwill messages and testimonies fill the air as so many people spoke of how Mama affected their lives positively.
The preacher in his sermon urged the people (living) to life for Christ. He gave categories of things people live for, which includes money, pleasure, for the world system, for themselves and for God. So in all our doing on Earth, people should endeavor to live for Christ as they will give account for their lives.
As other activities follows, I became very hungry cos I left the house very early, so I stopped by the road side close to the burial ground to buy some snacks.
As the activity continued, the Nigerian Police were given another chance to perform a REGIMENTED PARADE for the deceased. Sounds of gun shots scared so many people. But it was one of the rights to be performed there.
The family that Mma left behind were prayed for, and the remain of Mama was committed to the mother Earth. It was a joyous gathering indeed as people ate, drank and make merry for a successful transition of a virtuous woman.
I humbly request @rakiya and @dannyben39 to join in this contest.
