How do you explain Cesarean Section (CS) to a layman's understanding?

Cesarean Section (CS) is a surgical procedure in which a baby is delivered through a cutting made in the abdomen and uterus of the mother.

It's normally carried out when it's not possible for the mother to deliver through natural way, i.e the vagina.

Do you think CS should be a choice /right or as the situation demands?

To me, CS should be as the situation demands. Some people chose to, even if they can deliver safely through the vagina without a problem.
The reason, is they don't want to undergo the process of pain involved in the delivery.

While others, because the condition may not warrant them having a successful delivery, either because the probability that the baby or the mother may be saved is 50/50.

As I said earlier, CS should be as the situation demands. Historical research has it that in African countries most women died or gave birth to lifeless babies as a result of a long time laboured due to ignorance of CS.

Also, medical research has that a woman cannot undergo CS more than some specific number of times. Some parents want to raise a very large number and it's not always possible again with the restricted numbers of the CSs.

To me, CS should be as the situations demand safe lives and not as passion or choice.

Is there any history or stories about the belief of women who give birth through CS in your country/Community? Share with us.

Yes, there are. It's very common in my country today, especially with the elite class, who probably don't want to go through the pains of delivery or for passion or either of the rights they claim that a woman should not suffer any pains before delivery.

What is your advice to that person who is refusing this process because of what people will say?

I would have the opportunity to advise persons refusing CS, I will take them back to the history of some women who went through labourers for days and either lost their lives or their babies or both.

It will also help to reduce the pains of labour and to ease those with high blood pressure.

Will you support your sister, and wife to Choose CS in case of any emergency during childbirth? Or you allow her to wait until the due time?

I will not support my wife to wait for due time but rather ask her to go for CS during childbirth, to ease her pains of labour at delivery.

I will also support her to have her life and that of the baby safe, because sometimes severe labours lead to the loss of lives of both because of some impairment in the baby.

I, therefore had the opinion that delivery through CS should be as the situation demands.
