It is yet another week's contest here on steemit and i would love to tell that this is my first entry in a contest as a Steemian

This blog post contains information on how to rightfully leverage on telegram without being booted out.

It is good to know,that social media has come to stay but so many people abuse the facts of most platforms. But for platforms like "Telegram",there is no hesitation to kick you out in a jiffy.

Let's get to know telegram better!!!!

Telegram is a platform and also an online tool mainly used for messaging, and calling friends and family (loved ones) both within and far a wide. This features are backed up with the ability to;

  • Share screen while making voice calls.
  • Open groups and channels for different purposes like Crypto-learning, motivational/inspirational purposes and entertainment purposes.
  • End-to-end encryption; which enables the information of two users to be retained and stored between the two without being accessible by a third party.

Although,there is an exceptionality and huge disadvantage of all this features which is ;

  • It gives quick people quick access to you even without your consent and it simply happens through the search bar.

For instance; i could simply search for a contact name and multiple would appear but i don't need to send a friend request. I just need to send a text message or even a voice note and i have reached the individual. This is unlike whatsapp where you can only be reached through your contacts.

This is the crux of the matter as it has caused vulnerability to people falling for scam,illegal activities and even you being reported when you fail to consent to what they request you do.

Here is how you can get out of such shame and leverage on the purpose for why you opened an account.

Follow the steps carefully;

1. Be intentional about the groups you join: There is always a feeling of epiphany that lies in every user due to the quick accessibility to join any group. Most times,you may be a Crypto beginner,or someone that loves intellectual conversations. Now once you have joined this groups,there are certain things you should note:

i. The presence of a moderator: This is the most fundamental of any group for whosoever would be joining. A group in a normal sense should have a leader or let's say an organiser.
Therefore without an active moderator,the participants of this groups are liable to be scammed or disturbed by spams and once this happens your account is at risk.

Mr. A could anytime storm into your DM and drop an unwanted"updates" but you refuse to consent and it results to bantering of words. You may not have intentions on reporting his account but he/she can do so unapologetically making you lose your account for no reason.

2. Enable your Two-factor authentication: The two factor authentication, commonly known as 2FA is your backup password needed to shield against any form of hack on your account. Without this settings,hackers would take your account at any point in time.

Here is how you enable your 2FA :

You move to your settings by tapping on the top left corner of your telegram when once you are logged in. Then after that you move over to your settings as highlighted in the diagram

Again you will have to tap on your settings and you will find "Privacy and settings" which is also highlighted in the diagram:

When once you have gotten to the "privacy and security" section,you will scroll a little bit then you will find the 2FA section

There you are!!
If yours is not on "on mode" unlike mine then you will tap on it and set your desired password.

3. Guard your privacy: As earlier said that your accessibility is not limited to whosoever would be searching for you so therefore,you should go ahead and adjust some settings to avoid any further process that would lead to your account being reported then afterwards removed/suspended.

Still on your settings you would move over to your Privacy and settings. But here there would be no further scrolling.

Focus on the privacy section.

  • Make sure your phone number is only seen by "your contacts" and not "everyone"
  • Your "last seen" should not be seen by anyone hence enabling it to "nobody"
  • Most especially your groups and channels; restrict and enable only your contacts to be able to add you to a group or channel and lastly;
  • Make sure that you cannot be called by anyone apart from your contacts. This is the most risky.

Additionally;

As a group admin or channel owner, you should make sure your group is "private" so as to ensure the intentionality of every member making sure that all of the participants are the same for their common goal on joining the group/channel.

Lastly,
Spamming should be avoided at all cost,here telegram automatically takes charge here and bans such account. Here the group admins and moderators Shou set a timing preference before each member can send another message.

I also believe that @kay-owobia ,@lsanna and @balogunayomi should join in this contest and show their versatility of knowledge.
