The weather is a huge part of our lives everyday and it can have a huge impact on what we do and what we feel.

What is the weather condition in your locality and how does it affect people's Moods and activities?

I live in Rivers State, Nigeria and the weather condition in my locality is that it is dry and windy. We usually call it the harmattan season in Nigeria. This weather comes with a lot of dust as well. At night and very early in the mornings, the weather gets cold.

Most wear thick clothes and cover themselves up while they sleep. However, in the daytime, when the sun comes up, it gets warmer but the weather is still dry and windy.

This weather comes with some changes in lifestyle and activities.
First of all, due to the fact that it's usually very dry, people get thirsty a lot. As a result, people move around with a bottle water or water can.

This is necessary especially if you are going to a place where you can't easily access water to drink. The thirst caused by this weather can make you really uneasy, so, in order to avoid that, carrying drinkable water around has become a viable option.

Furthermore, because of the dryness that comes with the weather, people's skin get dry as well. The hands and feet get so dry. As a result, a lot of person's apply petroleum jelly on their skin in order to avoid their body getting too dry.
People also apply lip gloss on their lip to prevent the lip from drying out, which is a usual occurrence during this weather.

Farming activities are usually less in this weather because the dryness causes the ground to be hard and difficult to till. There is no rain during this weather which is a disadvantage to plants.

For most people, the harmattan lightens their mood because it comes with celebrations.

Do you like the weather and why?

Yes, I do like the weather. I prefer it because it does not involve rain. I don't like the rain. The rain could sometimes spoil your plans for the day and restrict movement. With the harmattan weather, the rain is absent.

Also, there is absence of heat in this weather. This is another reason I love it. One doesn't have to sweat on a normal day.
I like the weather because it is associated with the festive season

Conclusion

The weather indeed has an influence on people's activities and mood. The harmattan for me, is one to look forward to.
