CREATIVEWRITING: MASQUERADES IN NIGERIA

Hello everyone in this great community I hope everyone is fine and doing great too.
I decided to write about a very interesting topic today about something very special in my country NIGERIA

Masquerades are strong ansestral spirits of each tribe which represents something scared and have meanings and stories backed up. Masquerades can also be said generally too as an occasional performance where participants wear masks displaying so many moves whereby the audience are entertained .

In Nigeria there are three ethic groups and so many tribes with different cultures that adds to their beautification and masquerade dancing is essential in cultural acts and there are some masquerade are sacred too which really and seriously mean something serious to the people.

The Most Famous Yourba Masquerade

The Egungun masquerade which represents the asenstral spirit of the Yourba people is a sacred masquerade which is well known to posses supernatural powers . The egungun masquerade makes appearance on costume made of clothing material and beads too. The Yourba people says that the egungun masquerade serves as a bridge and means of communication between the living and the dead and also performs on occasions depends on what the occasion is for .

The Most Famous Igbo Masquerade

The Okoroshi masquerade is a well known masquerade which belongs to the Igbo tribe and the masquerades according to the igbos represent power and authority.
During appreance the Okoroshi masquerade is dressed with raffia and beads and also colorful fabrics too .
The Okoroshi masquerade is known and believed to be one that maintain law and orders thereby getting evil doers punished and keeping the society free of evil people. This masquerade is also known to make appreance on occasions too like festivals weddings and also burials too.

The Most Famous Hawusa Masquerade

The Kroko masquerade which belongs to the people of the northern part of Nigeria is known for prosperity and entertainment.
The kroko masquerade is known to make appreance as an animal or a mythical creature dressed with fabric beads and cowries as well.
This masquerade is long time known as the source of the tribes fertility and the also serve as entertainment to the people that are watching it perform.

CONCLUSION
In as much as the diversity in culture and tribe upholding peace and loving one another not despite he's or her tribe would make Nigeria a better place .
