My Neighborhood Watch #36 - Reporting Events Around us

It's always exciting to make post in a community like Steem4Nigeria. Before I start I would like to invite two fellow Steemians @yakspeace @leafoflife @paholags to participate the contest.

Recently I visited few shops of our locality. Shops are selling different varieties of garments, sarees, shalwar suits, baby dress etc. The showcase of the shops have display of the items.

Some are just hanged like sarees. Female Mannequin wearing sarees or male Full Body Adjustable Mannequin Torso Dress Form with Metal Base (with or without hair wig). It is very interesting to see this dummy figure through windows of shops.

Usually very attractive and current items are displayed in shop counters. I saw very expensive dresses for bride and bride groom. There were sarees like Banarasi, Silks are also available from Bangalore to Murshidabad.

Most popular dresses of India are Saree, Salwar Kameez, Patiala Suit, Anarkali Suite, Lehenga Choli, Kurta, Palazzo Suit, Long Skirt, Floor Length Dress, Maxi Gown, Pant Saree, Indo-Western Dress, Sharara Suit, Dupatta, Sherwani Suit, Lancha, Dhoti Kurta, Kurti and Churidar, Cape-Top Saree, Kurti with Cigarette Pants and Indian Co-ord sets.

There are different cotton handloom sarees of Bengal are called Dhaniya Khali, Begampuri, Tangail of Fulia, Santipur, Dhatrigram and Samudragar, Silk sarees are Bishnupur Baluchari, Sarna chori, Murshidabad print silk, Katha Stitch silk, Santiniketan batik etc.

Orissa a province of India has rich culture and heritage of different types of sarees and fabrics which are Bomkai cotton and silk type. Sambalpur silk and Katki fabric for dress materials and sarees.

One of the most shot after saree is Benarasi silk with floral design and pattern made by weaving with golden thread costing several lacs of Rupees. On the marriage at least one saree is must wore by bride.

There are Srirampur printed Saree is very popular in Bengal. There's a shop Priya Gopal Bishoyi wholesaler pioneer of designer printed silk sarees. They actually started their own saree printing facilities in Srirampur. In 1908 a textile college was established in Srirampur which has become a fulflaged engineering and textile college as Government College of Engineering & Textile Technology Serampore.
