Greetings friends of Steemit and Steem4Nigeria

It's always exciting to make post in a community like Steem4Nigeria. Before I start I would like to invite two fellow Steemians @crismenia and @eveetim to participate in the contest.

Nawab Wajid Ali Shah was last the eleventh and last King of Awadh for nine years just 200 years before Indian independence and his exile in Kolkata. He was exiled to Garden Reach in Metzabruz area then suburbs of Kolkata.

When he reached 13 May 1856 little he knew that his sojourn in the city would continue long 31 years, the rest of life.

In the meanwhile sipahi bidroh breakout and Wajid Ali Shah was arrested and detained in the Fort William. He was prisoned long 25 months.

Wajid Ali Shah had a peaceful settlement with Lord Canning. He was accorded a personal right to retain his title.of King as long as live and a monthly pension of one lakh rupees (£10 in 1860 is equivalent in purchasing power to about £1,523.80 today, it is almost 150 times). Department of History Jadavpur University & School of Media Communication and Culture, Jadavpur University, Kolkata Held one exibition at Matiaburj on the eve of Two Hundred Years of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah 'Home' and Exile in Calcutta.

On the occasion a beautiful exibition poster was created in three languages e.g. Bengali, English and Arabic.

Nawab's legacy and cultural memory of Exile and displacement.

A Multi Media Exhibition Garden Plaza First Floor (Bost 8-15 Gia Muad Kolkata 700024, 9. 10, 11 July 2034, 4pm-8pm. All are welcome.

This is a very sacred piece of Muslim faith according to retuals it is kept inside Sibtainabad Imambara, Metaibruz. It was displayed in exibition Hall.

This is the traffic seen on the day. The place is very congested and narrow also. Since it is at West corner of the city transit to the place is only via road. Though I stay about 10 km away from the place, it took me one and half hour to reach there.
