Differentiate between urban and rural areas stating three major features

Urban and rural areas are the two types of places where people live and go about their daily activities which all depend on what a person needs.

Those who like farming, prefer staying in rural areas where they can get vast land to farm, whereas those who like working in offices and want to live a luxury lifestyle are the type of people who like staying in an urban.

Before we take a look at the difference between urban and rural areas, let's first look at their meaning so we can get a clear understanding of both differences.

Urban Areas

An Urban Area is an area that is highly developed, with a lot of job opportunities, infrastructure, schools, and so on. It is usually called town or city depending on how you see it. Urban Areas have good roads, houses, buildings, and hospitals, with a high standard of living.

Rural Areas

The rural areas are just the opposite of urban areas. It is an area with less infrastructure, job opportunities, good schools, hospitals, and on. It is usually called a village that is occupied with farming activities.

Rural Areas is a less developed areas that hardly get the attention of the government and most people that stay in rural are those who are into farming, old men and women.

The difference between urban areas and rural areas with three key features

Availability of land	There is scarcity of land in urban areas	There is vast availability of land in rural areas
Lifestyle	Life in urban areas is complicated and fast filled with hustling to survive	Life in rural areas is more simple cheap and relaxed
Jobs opportunity	In urban areas, people are engaged in different works such as ministry, a manufacturing company, etc	In rural areas, most of the people depend on agriculture works like farming.

Which area did you grow up and why?

Well, I grew up in an Army barracks that is closer to an urban area. The reason why I think the barracks that I grew up in are an urban area is because of the closeness to the town, the lifestyle, the standard of education, the hospital, and the infrastructure in the barracks.

Most barracks in Nigeria with the Army, airforce or navy are well built and developed just like the one in which I grew up from is developed. The barracks is just about 20 kilometers away from the town, and 5 kilometers away from a community that is fast developing.

If you were told to go to the area you didn't grow up in, will you?

Yes if I were told to go to the area I didn't grow up from, I would go. The reason is we all have a village that we are coming from which means one day I can find myself in the village when my dad has retired from service, when I need something important that warrants me going to the village just as I have been visiting.

As long as people are living in the place I can also go to the area and stay peacefully once there is a network, light, and water. I will even relax more in such an area.

What things are there in the area you grew up from that aren't in the other?

There are a lot of things in the area that I grew up from that aren't in the other. Like inside barracks, there are things like;

Armstore for safe keeping of guns and ammunition.
Empty yard for safe keeping of sophisticated vehicles for use in war.
Parade ground for matching.
Maimai-market.
Quarter Guard.
Ssgt and officer mess for relaxing.
Safety and secure environment.

Wow, how interesting. I have never met anyone who grew up in a military barracks.

I feel that in your writing there may be some search for roots, those that tell us where we come from, those that are in our genes and that appear without us calling them, they are simply part of our human essence.

Regarding your last answer, definitely, a military barracks must be a very safe place unlike cities and rural areas.

Hello friend!
What a good exploration of the concept of living in an urban or rural area. The Urban areas have much differences than that of the rural areas. Actually, not all rural areas have seen a good measure of infrastructural development which makes the Urban areas ahead of them. Growing up in the barracks was a nice time the during your childhood I guess. The strictness and discipline imoosed on kids of military personnels then are nkw are evident. Also no matter where a barrack is located be it in an urban or rural area, it usually comes or have the needed amenities for the occupants.

I wish I had lived in a barrack lol. There are many things that are in there which are not in other places. Such things like the arms stores, parade ground, mai-mai market and many more as you've mentioned..

My dear city life is not easy. I remember when my friend lost his dad the mother could not afford the house rent in the city again.

So the mother has no option than to go back to the village.

Life in the city really need some one to hustle well in case something urgent came up you will be able to cope.

tiene mucha razón en ambas zonas hay diferentes oportunidades en algunas hay carencias pero creo que dependiendo de lo que necesitemos o sabemos hacer eso no será impedimento para vivir en una zona rural o urbana, en lo personal vivo en zona urbana ya estoy acostumbrado.

Hello dear friend, You are right that if people can live in an area then we can also live. However, for the development of personality, a person needs both rural and urban areas. In the rural area, spiritual development takes place, he gets peace, he gets rid of depression.

Hi @jasminemary, The urban area always gets filled up because of the high inflow of people from the rural areas to the urban area. People flow in because of job opportunities, good infrastructure and a comfortable life. Well the rural area also has its great advantages as i lived in both areas. You have highlighted the differences well and this can help even a layman to immediately understand the difference between the rural area and the urban area.
