Hello, steemians.
I bring greetings from Port-Harcourt, Nigeria. Welcome to iTeach contest, making steemit an educative and skill-driving platform. Thanks to @fredquantum for bringing up this amazing contest. I will be writing on "LITERATURE"
Today, I will teach you simple ways to poemify a sentence, a written note, or an extracted paragraph or simply to tweak a written note into a poem. Writing a poem should be an easy task for anyone, it's like jotting down some notes, and feelings. This must come from a deep sense of understanding to be able to communicate to the reader.
You may cut me down to ashes with your rusty bluntly sickle, you may dig up my dirt. But still like the sun I will rise. With disgust in your heart you weed me up, I dread your fire still I live here, trampled by your sons and daughters, and mine will still live here. Life is in cycle from mortal to dust yet, I'm proud of this circus
How pious are we, that we fed you with breath and the morsel on your plate? How pious are we? Yet you yanked us off the surface with your bluntly rusty sickle. still, we will live here, we will bloom here, gleam and spawn out with beauty, cos We are natures goodness
First, you choose your theme. what you want to write about; Love, flowers, Happiness... etc depends on you. Now let the Emotion flow with the words inside you. You write with a wide scope in mind (write outside the box)
Secondly, it's the meter. Look for rhyming words, although it's not compulsory, but it makes your poem 'sweet' to the readers. it could be a rhyming line for each stanza.
Thirdly, wordplay. wordplay or puns (a play of words) these are combinations of words that exploit multiple meanings of a term. e.g " Dive into the ocean of love, Rise like the Sun.
A poem comprises of lines and stanzas. In the learning process, there is a difference between a sentence and a line. A stanza and paragraph.
A sentence; is a free flow of speech without a definite effect, leading to a paragraph. The effect is what is called a line break. While a line is a combination of words with a definite effect. A collection of lines is what makes a stanza.
In composing a poem; we have poems with less than eight words in a line and three lines to make a stanza(called a tercet). Seven words in a line and eight lines to make a stanza which is called an octave. We have poems without a stanza, which is called Free verse.
