My Neighborhood Watch #76 - Reporting Events Around us

Just a warm and cordial greetings to everyone here, regarding to all my fellow amiable and lovely steemians colleagues and friends around the world, I hope you are all fine and healthy as for me am amazing, this week am opportune and delighted to participate in the week #75 of this amazing contest usually organized by @xkool24 titled: My Neighborhood Watch - Reporting Events Around us

Since Life is an opportunity for us to learn and grow in many aspects and different ways that means It's a very good and beautiful idea to share with people most especially our colleagues and friends mostly does who are not leaving close to us what's happening around your environment and also give them awareness to those new and usual things that happen or exist around us, because we all lives in different geographical area and I believe that they some activities going on around us, so why the hesitation let's report those events now and stay alert.

Early this morning been it Thursday 28 November 2024 an incident that caused so much grieve and sadness actually took place in my neighborhood that was at Nowas junction along Nike lake road Enugu, Nigeria.

When I was going to work this morning I took a Keke (tricycle) for transport to my work place that should be 5km way from my house and when I got to work that should be few minutes to 7am Nigeria time hoping to start work by 7am but due to some minor issues we had with our supervisor were not able to start on time so when it was few minutes past Seven suddenly we heard people shouting and screaming behold what I saw was a white van carrying tomatoes that has lose control and diverted to the order lane only to smash a Keke man that was trying to pick some passenger at the corner of the road inside his Keke and a young girl also which they discovered late.

Immediately the accident happened people rushed to where it actually took place to rescue the victim of this accident sadly to say when they got there they discovered that the Keke man was badly injured and stock inside his Keke and people were trying very hard to remove him from the Keke before the vehicle catches fire, as this was going on some people were also trying to break the wheel screen of the van to also rescue the driver as well which they later succeeded and the driver and his colleague came out save without even a scratch on their body this gave people thought to say that the driver weren't ordinary human beings even despite the clash that even pulled out a POS and the Nowas filling station sign board and the van was roughly damage still yet nothing happen to them, but the Keke guy was badly injured and disfigured right now he is still at orthopedic hospital.

After they have succeed in removing the driver and the Keke guy suddenly the van started catching fire because of the excessive flow of Petrol from the broken tank immediately fire extinguisher was brought from my work place which they used to quench the fire, since the incident was close to filling station there were ordered to remove the van from there before the fire extend to the filling station which will cause so much damage if such happens, as there were trying to do so there discovered a body of a young girl that was selling okpa at that spot under the van laying unconscious when people saw this many of them was shedding tears because of this young girl but immediately she was also rush down to Geoffrey Teaching Hospital which was close to Nowas for quick medical attention which I pray she survives it because till a closed from work I didn't hear any news about her but as for the Keke guy his two legs was badly damage 🥲 that's it will take the grace of God to walk again.

Another thing that gave me so much fear and shocked was that spot that accident took place that's where the Keke man that carried me to work dropped me and one other passenger that was not even about 15 minutes before this incident took place thanks to Almighty that I am not a victim to such accident.

I know life as a whole is filled with risk but at least we should atimes try our possible best to reduce and minimize this risk, mostly those hawkers and road side vendor who sell their goods and products at the corner of the road should at least distance themselves from the road to avoid been a victim to such accident which can lead to serious injury or death because our safety really matters at all cost.
