My Neighborhood Watch #88 - Reporting Events Around us

Hello and warmest greetings everyone, regarding to my fellow amiable steemians in this community, it's a pleasure for me to have you in my blog as well as the week #88 of this amazing contest; My Neighborhood Watch #88 - Reporting Events Around us organized by @xkool24.

Few hours ago when i was viewing whatsapp status in my phone then i came across one of my friend status which he posted a video of him and his fellow students when they were protesting against big vehicles and everyone there was running because police was chasing them and even throwing teargas at them to stop the protests, i was so curious because the video actually shows that something bad actually took place before the police were involved.

So when i reply to the video he posted on his status, that what actually happened that you people are running up and down, he went further to tell me that something bad really happened in their school today that they just lost 6 of their students in a very terrible accident that occurs around their students around Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State when a haulage trucks, often referred to as 18-wheelers trailer losses control and fell on top a mini bus that was at the side of the road conveying passengers and almost all of them were students coming back from lectures classes and all of them died including the driver of the bus.

After the accident the other students took actions and started protesting that they should ban trailers from passing that road because this was not the first or even the second time such incident has occurred, he even told me that the last one that took place before this particular one caused a lot of damage as well as even taking more than fifty people lives🥲 and if they don't protest this incident will keep repeating it self and the governments or road security are not saying anything serious about what was just going on, which is nothing but the truth because since the beginning of 2025 here in my country Nigeria there have been so many cases and report on tankers explosion and accidents due to reckless driving and lack of road side officers which has caused so much tragedy in our society today leaving some people homeless and even turning some children orphans😭.

According to him he said that they was a friend of his that they both took picture with her phone after lectures that same day and he was hoping that when the girl gets home she will forward his own to him through whatsapp as usual not knowing that was the last time he will hear or see her again, i just felt pity for the victims and their parents as well because this unexpected and sad news about the lost of their children will eventually came as shock to most of them after all the struggle and suffering to put them through in school and this is the out come of everything, i just pray that almighty God should console and guide them as they mourn their late children.

The government should atleast take action to minimize and stop all this accident that is happening on the road because is no longer tolerating any longer when people are dieing any how because of something that can be stop by providing a separate lane for big vehicles to avoid the crash with small vehicle and others and also restrict some moments when the vehicle should be passing some areas like afternoon when most of the students are coming back from lectures and i think with this few steps they can be able to reduce the risk and harm of this big vehicles around our areas and the best you can do for your self and your family is to always pray to God for his infinite mercy and protection because no one knows what the next moment is all about.
