Today as I visited the village closer to the town where I am staying I saw how people were seriously rejoicing with dances, and celebrating. It was a wedding ceremony that brought people from different places out together to celebrate with the bride and groom.

I was relaxing with my friend when his neighbor called him out to come and see the masquerade and I was curious to see the masquerade as well. Although, it wasn't a masquerade it was just people who covered their faces and dressed in their native attires for dancing that came out to rejoice.

It is said that every town has its own culture and traditions the people of the Akwanga Local government area of Nasarawa State have their own culture and traditions when it comes to wedding celebrations theirs are usually done traditionally.

They have special native beans that are usually cooked. The beans are different from the normal beans that are sold in the market. At every wedding celebration, they must cook their native beans in large quantities after cooking the beans or even at the point the beans are on fire they would start dancing around the beans before eating which is exactly what I found them doing at the time I visited the venue.

Both men and women would be dancing around the pot of the beans. As the dance is going on that is how they share (distributing) the beans among themselves, especially for those who are dancing. Before you would think of having a taste of the beans you must dance if not nothing for you.

The dance takes different dimensions and they begin to carry each other on their heads, and shoulders and display different styles of dance.

I am inviting: @dove11, @simonnwigwe, and @ruthjoe
