Hello great people of this community, I'm delighted to be here again. Thanks goes to @xkool24 for organizing this contest. Today i will be sharing with you what is going on in my community. However, it's a New Yam Celebration

Festival Celebration In the Land Of Ikom

Festivity is a time were all the people in the community feels good about their culture and tradition. It has always been at this time whch the community carries out different activities to make the community look warm to make and bring their love's ones home.

This time the community has been too serious about their culture thereby going round the town to give announcement concerning the festivity. *During the announcement, the announcer made it clearer that only the indigene should come out for the play in this festivity and they don't need strangers to join them. *This is to enable the youths to understand their culture and traditions.

The difference activities will be display below:

The Ekpe Dance

The Ekpe dance is regarded as the highest community play and society which the Ikom people have overtime. In those days, when this play is in place, women are not permitted to watch it! But I'm surprise how now even when they knew the law, people still went out as closed as where the play was, to watch including children. Note, Ekpe is the highest society in the land.

The Best hunter of the year/ the treasure search

This is a great activity that normally takes place during festival period. Here the Treasure horn would be hidden in a particular bush and the hunters will go in search of it. Anyone who finds it, becomes the best hunter for the season with a prize attached to it. They went the same bush searching for over time and at the 3rd time, he found the Treasure horn.

The Masquerade display

This is the most maddest masquerade in the Land. You can see that it's with 3 chains and it can do and undo. Being festive period, the instruction given was; *every male should remove their shirt while the masquerade is moving. Secondly, bow down when it comes closer to you. I stood far from the masquerade and watch how it displays. You can see some of the pictures below:

Oganigope Dance

The above dance is for the male and all the young male of the land, got involved.

In conclusion, this new yam festival is going well and the community is lively throughout this period.

I'm inviting @ngoenyi, @yakspeace, and @samuelnkenta to look into this contest.

Thanks for your leadings.

Lovely cultural activities. In this twenty first century cultures are no more respected by our women again it happen to every community out there. I can even read some post online where women boost of hidden to watch their forbidden masquerade and went unarmed claiming that all those things are scam . So the culture is no value as of before.
