Greetings my amicable steemians in STEEM4Nigerian, without doubt i believe you're all doing good and y'all have a good day. It's my pleasure to welcome y'all to my blog, in the topic "The lies i grew up believing."

Living as I chilld, i must i really went through a whole lot of lies, not just going through them, i dearly believe in these lies. Thank God for growth because it really truncated this lies from me through thorough research. Now let's dive and fetch out some of these lies.

What were the lies you believed while growing up?

Let's start with the "moon following you. Ever feel like the moon is following you?. During my childhood, i normally used to feel like the moon is following me to wherever destination I'm going but i wasn't firmly sure, not until my elders told me that the moon followed me to anywhere and for the long time, i believe them.

Ever heard about this lie, you won't grow tall if you sit on top a stone. I grew up with my grandmother so this lie was trending in the environment, all my siblings used to believe it and avoid sitting on top a stone. In fant we were strongly warned not to sit on top a stone, provoking this warning would lead to punishment.

Let's talk about this popular lie about the football match between Nigeria vs India. According to what I head, there was a football match between Nigeria and India, the outcome of this match was 99:1 with India scoring 99 goals in a single football match, the reason behind these goals was that the India national team Used voodoo to played against the Nigeria national team.

Another version of this story stated that a Nigerian player died while scoring the India team to break the challenge they placed. The challenged was if Nigeria scored one goal, they'll win the match and then teslim balogun, a Nigerian player score and died instantly.

This story continues that the ball would turn to different animals like lion, dog and even an object like stone. Wow I seriously used to believe this lie and discussed it with friends who believe the same damn lie.

What was your reaction after finding out the truth as an adult?

I was sincerely happy the moment i realized the truth behind all those lies, I was like wow so all these while, I was in the dark knowing the truth about the moon staying on its own, growing tall evening when sitting on top a stone, no football national team has ever scored Nigeria 99 goals in a single match.

I was happy because I can firmly vindicate to people the truth about these lies I believe. I'm now in the light part of the world.

Do you subscribe to telling lies to young minds in a bid to protect them or you choose to call a spade a spade?

I refused subscribing of telling lies to young people just to protect them. Lie has never a strategy used in saving people, if it does, Satan and God wouldn't be separated from each other. Besides no matter the depth of a lie you instill in a child mind, when he or she grows up, he or she will probably research and reveal the real truth.

A spade remains a spade no matter what it is been used for, therefore we and i should say the truth regarding it's nature, even if it results in an abrupt manner, the truth should be told instead of beating about the bush.

In conclusion, living a life as a childhood is full of untruthful believed, this is because we don't know our left and right as a young mind. Our elders should be focused on calling a spade a spade instead of abusing the young people with lies, this is a great strategy to train the leaders of tomorrow.

I'll love to invite @goodybest @saintkelvin17 and @wilmer1988 to join me in this contest.

MODs Comment/Recommendation:

It's quite unfortunate that these lies we grew up to believe were strictly adhered to then, just imagine someone running away from stone hahahaha it's laughable.

¡Saludos amigo!🤗
