Just this afternoon, as I drove out into the warm Uyo sunlight, I decided to take a stroll to check on my uncle's house in Shelter Afrique. The streets were quiet, with only a few pedestrians milling about. I drove along the neatly paved roads, taking in the sights and sounds of the upscale neighborhood.

Shelter Afrique, with its well-manicured lawns and modern architecture, was a tranquil oasis in the heart of Uyo. I turned a corner to VIP Avenue and caught sight of my uncle's house, its white colored walls and dark-tiled roof standing out amidst the sunny season.

I approached the house, noticing the good work of the cleaner, the security man and the empty, echoing silence that surrounded it.

My uncle and his family lived in London, and the house had stood vacant for years. I checked the pool side, carriages, football field, both inside and out were kept clean. Indeed, the cleaners and security officer did a nice job and my uncle was impressed of the report from me.

Despite the stillness, memories of past visits flooded my mind. I recalled laughter-filled afternoons and warm evenings spent with my uncle and his family. Though they were far away in London, the house remained a tangible connection to them, a symbol of the love and memories we shared.

As I stood there, the silence was almost palpable. I took a deep breath, feeling the warmth of the sun on my skin and the gentle rustle of the flowers in the breeze. It was a moment of quiet reflection, a chance to reconnect with the past and the people who mattered most.

After a while, I bid the house farewell, knowing that one day it would again be filled with laughter and life. For now, it stood as a testament to the enduring power of love and memory.
