Last week, precisely Saturday, 25th January, 2025 I had another opportunity to be hired to film a comedy skit, and I must say, it was an exhilarating experience. As a videographer and a photographer, I've worked on various projects, but this particular filming was something that I can boldly say I enjoyed most because the casts were so funny and lively. There was lots of experiences and some valuable lessons I learned along the way from behind-the-scenes.

This was my first time of working with this particular casts and crew, So as a Pre-Production Jitters, I started by telling them my past experience in filming a comedy skit, I initiated the interaction with them in order to establish the familiarity before the shoot began.

The script was hilarious, but I knew that comedy can be subjective, and what works on paper might not translate to the Screen. After sharing my past experience, the entire crew were grateful for my contribution and decided to do a quick rehearsal on their respective lines and getting into character while I set up my equipments.

The atmosphere was relaxed and playful. As we began filming, from my experience knowing fully well that capturing comedy is all about timing, I needed to anticipate the punchlines and ensure that I was rolling when the laughter erupted. The cast was talented and energetic, making my job a lot easier.

LESSONS LEARNED

Filming a comedy skit for some time now has taught me several valuable lessons:

  1. Be flexible: Comedy is all about improvisation, so be prepared to adapt to changes on the fly.

  2. Pay attention to sound: Good sound quality is crucial for comedy. Make sure to capture clear and crisp audio to bring the laughs to life.

  3. Work with talented people: Surrounding yourself with talented cast and crew members makes all the difference in creating a hilarious and engaging comedy skit.

  4. Have fun: Comedy is all about having fun and making people laugh. Enjoy the experience, and the laughter will be contagious!

THE FINAL PRODUCT

After hours of filming and editing, the final product was a hilarious and entertaining comedy skit that left everyone in stitches. I was proud of what we'd accomplished, and I couldn't wait to share it with the world.
