It was a blissful and successful wedding as everything went as was planned. It was one of my best friend's remarkable event.
I was very happy when my friend told me 3 months ago that he will be getting married. Our culture demands all friends and peer groups should form a support group which we call "Committee of Friends". We did that in essence of organising one of our friend's event and also provided financial support to assist him.
I and Mr. Christian Etim attended the same University back in the days, I studied Mechanical Engineering while he studied Computer Science. We became good friends since then and till now. After our graduation, I ventured into graphic design and printing work while he focused on Information and Communication Technology (ICT). He is currently working with MTN Nigeria. (One of the best Telecommunication Company).
Our age old plan came to fusion. When I did my wedding 5 years ago, Christian was my best man, he was my anchor man, he moved with me always, he made sure everything I needed was provided, he was all by my side. I promised to reciprocate whenever it will be his turn to marry and I did beyond his expectations.
Apart from my general contribution in the Committee of Friends, I also volunteered to sponsor all graphic, branding and printing work of my friend's wedding as my way of supporting him. As a graphic designer, trust what I can do.

We were to move to the marriage venue very early to inspect how the arrangement went since the venue was in his in-law's village and it's 4 hours drive from Uyo where we live.
By 6am, I was done with my laundry, pulished my shoes and dressed up to meet him in his house.
We arrived Government Primary School, Atanuk Town, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area which was the venue for the Traditional Marriage. While he waited in the dressing room, I and other committee of friends members went to put things in place in the wedding ground. Guest were coming in their numbers, they seated under the tent while DJ entertained them with soft tunes.
By 1pm, I gave him light refreshment and dressed him up, after which I took some pictures with him and strolled to the wedding ground to observe what was going on. By then, the field was filled up and the MC was about to start the wedding proper.
As a way of welcoming my friend to Married Men's club, I took personal picture with him.
We headed to Traditional Marriage proper, where everything was done by order of our tradition and arrangement. They were both joined together in holy matrimony and they both exchanged rings in witness of both families and guests. Official photographs were taken which included both families, Friends and well wishers.

To provide a legal backing and security proof of their union, they also did their Court marriage which held at Federal High Court, Uyo - Nigeria and they were awarded their marriage certificates in the process.
The wedding was all with joy and merriment, of course I wish you were there to join me.
Finally, I wish to ask, how will you spend your weekend? Will you attend any occasion like I did on Thursday?
Thanks for sharing your wonderful story 🙌 that's a successful wedding proper. When I read at the part of committee of friends, I wonder who can joint this commutee, how many members and what cost of the wedding did the committee gave their support?
To answer the last question, rainy day again, no wedding invitations to enjoy, so.. steeming and sleeping are the best option.
See you later

Thank you very much for this observation, to respond to the first question of those that can join the committee of friends.
The committee comprises of his close friends, church members, colleagues at work etc. We were total of 63 members and we were able to contribute the total sum of 510,000 naira which is equivalent to 1,068.449 steem.
The money was presented to the couple on their wedding eve, for them to start their new home with. The Donations was freewill base on individual capacity. Apart from this contribution, some committee members also volunteered to sponsor other stuffs like chairs and canopy just like I did in design and printing. Picture below.
The wedding invitation card is below:

😲 wow.. that's amazing, it's a good tradition. So the newlyweds don't have to think about how to get money to conduct a wedding party.
Thanks for your explanation, it's really something new to me and a good practice 👍 i believe it's a voluntary action amongs friends, right?

Yes, it's a voluntary action, the idea is to curtail the number of bachelors / spinsters that are aged and due for marriage but don't have much money to sponsor everything that wedding demands.
Apart from this, we also do a follow-up to make the youths and young men and women are working or doing business that will put food on their table.
Our little way of helping each other to grow. What did to my friend, he used to do same to others.

there's nothing much I can say now, it's really an inspiring and amazing act of kindness, a local wisdom which should be appreciated and keep it last longer for the next generation.
