INTRODUCTION

Hello steemians ladies and gentlemen. I hope you are all in good health and sound mind, i am good as well. All thanks to @steem4nigeria for this exciting and insightful contest with the Topic Dealing With Emotions. Wish all of us a nice content.

I will further give my ideas and understanding of each of the question concerning this topic.

WHAT IS YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF EMOTIONS?

Emotions are outward reactions that a person experience in response to situations or events. Emotions can also come as a result of previous traumatic experiences that happen either consciously or subconsciously.

I have come to understand that emotion can be felt at a moment or over a long period of time. Emotions can come in a negative or positive way.

Positive emotions can rise from being happy, confident, inspired and grateful.

Negative emotions can rise from a feeling of guilt, anger, depression, anxiety, fear, relationship conflict, unmet needs, and poor coping skills.

I have had emotions that made media lose myself due to pressure and depression. When i lost my father 13 years ago, it occurred to me that a canopy that covered me has been removed.

I came to the real reality of life. My mother is just a petty trader, so everything was always provided to us by my father. He died when i just got admission into the university. Things were hard because, four(4) of my siblings were already in the university too. my mother could not afford things that i needed in school.

If she struggle to give me tuition fees, that's all. We all know how university is all about, that it is not only tuition fees, other small small payments follows like buying of textbooks, photocopying of handout, departmental and faculty dues. I even had to suspend studies some semester, just to go and work and raise a little money that will help me when i resume.

I managed till i got to final year. This is the point emotional depression set in.
There was no money for my project work, for me to meet up with the deadline, i started collecting online loans.

When it was time to pay back, no money to pay. For me not to be embarrassed, I'll go to another loan app and borrow to pay the first one. Sometimes, those loan app will not give you a reasonable amount, so i will have to borrow from 2 to 3 apps to pay one.

Before i knew it, i was owing different loan apps. Ewoooo, see calls and embarrassment everywhere. The things i was running from finally came to me.
I was embarrassed, depressed, feel like giving up whenever i see calls from the loan people. This was the period i knew the real meaning of depression. Family members and friends called and asked me why i gave their numbers for people to call and embarrassed them. Not knowing that those people have access to your contact once you register with them.

Threats from both loan company and friends almost killed me. I was so lean that people started asking me what was wrong with me.
Thank God that he gave me a job immediately i was done in school. I started paying back till i finised paying all of them.

EXPLAIN 5 WAYS TO DEAL WITH EMOTIONS?

◍Confront your emotions: Accept that whatever happened has happened, acknowledge it, and allow them thes emotions exist without dwelling on them.

◍Relaxation: Engage yourself in activities like reading, walking, talking to a friend so as to relief your pains or anxiety.

◍Exercise: Go out for physical activities and do some aerobics.

◍Letting go of the past: give your mind rest and don't blow things out of proportion by allowing it a repeated thing in your mind.

◍Be Reasonable: know that bad feeling comes occasionally not, so you think of ways to make yourself always happy.

DO YOU THINK EMOTIONS COULD HINDER SOMEONE FROM ACHIEVING THEIR DREAMS

I think its only the negative emotions that can hinder someone from achieving their dreams.

When emotions are not well handled and managed, it can lead to suicide. Committing suicide will definitely hinder you from achieving your dreams.

So many people do not know how to manage emotions like anger. Once they are angry, they can do something terrible that can land them in prison. You cannot be in prison and achieve your dreams.

Fear of failure can also make people not to achieve their dreams. In their mind, they consider what people will say if they actually start and fail. So they prefer not to try at all.

Emotions will always come, ability to handle and deal with it makes you an hero.

Absolutely. Letting go of the past means giving your mind a break and not blowing things out of proportion by constantly replaying them in your head. It's like giving your mind a vacation from dwelling on past events or mistakes. Instead of overthinking and getting caught up in negative thoughts, try to focus on the present moment and the things that bring you joy and positivity. Give yourself permission to move forward and embrace new experiences without being weighed down by the past. It's all about finding peace of mind and allowing yourself to grow and thrive in the present.
