MY FIRST POST: STRESS AND HARD WORK

in hive-147599 •  11 days ago  (edited)

Hello steemians, Good day...
So I've been racking my brains all day for what to write as a first post on this community and I've had lots of ideas and flashes. I guess the thrill of being on this platform is overwhelming, exciting and makes me a little nervous. Hopefully with time, it will become more easy. So after many considerations, I've decided to write on a misconception most people had while I was growing up...

STRESS AND HARD WORK
Where I come from, stress and suffering seems to be the measure for ones level of hard work. If you take the easy way out, you're tagged lazy. But is stress really the yardstick for measuring one's hard work? I beg to disagree!

I don't need to work in the farm morning till evening, come rain come sun to prove I am hard working when I don't have any interest nor passion in it.

Mrs B uses the washing machine to do her laundry not because she's lazy
She probably has other things she needs to attend to.

Mr U decides to use the Dish washer to do his dirty dishes doesn't mean he's in a hurry to get to his match, he's probably tired.
And many more

Modern technologies and innovations are meant to make life easy and seamless, let's appreciate it and at the same time we need to refrain from abusing it. Too much stress endangers our health and rest is recommended.
It's okay to use the fastest and easiest means to do a task as long as the task gets done it shouldn't be a problem right?
No one really like to stress but I guess sometimes circumstances, pressure, deadlines, decline in economic growth and many other reasons leads to people falling to stressful ventures or could it be in our DNA...

I mean while growing up, when I'm forced to do a task and I begin to get tired, I'll grumble, "I can't do this", "when I grow up I'll employ lots of maids, I'll have maids who'll do my laundry, cook my meals, keep the house clean, amongst others". Yes that was laziness speaking and mom and the neighbours would laugh, calling me lazy. I still get teased because of that especially as the economy keeps getting tough as the years go by making my little wish almost impossible. But I got to realise that maids are humans too and they also feel stressed out. So I try to be self sufficient but avoid being stressed out even without certain technology though.
Truth is we have the ability adapt to stress and get so use to it that it doesn't feel like any big deal but all it needs is time to weigh us down...

How I tend to look when stressed

I for one fall in this category sometimes, all that will be on my mind is to finish the task without paying attention to the tiredness inside, that's why I said it could run in our DNA but I equally value rest when I get the privilege

Using umbrella on a sunny day at the site, can't kill myself

We don't need to kill ourselves to prove that we are hardworking. Take that break.

CONCLUSION
It pays to be hardworking but being hardworking doesn't mean we work our self out to death, take out time to rest, know when to take a break or walk away, ask for help if it becomes above your power, don't die on that task, someone else will finish it when that happens
We don't need to kill ourselves to impress anyone, just do you, stay healthy, stay positive, work hard, stress less, get a balance and rest.

Greetings dear friend @lusciouslucy, you are welcome to the Steem4Nigeria community. It is great seeing you first post in the community.

Firstly, you need to get yourself verified in the newcomers community by atleast getting a welcome message from one of the greeters. Secondly, you have to join their discord server so as to aid your complete verification.

In your post I saw you writing photo credit unknown, this is not accepted on Steemit. From what I see you have screenshot those images. Screenshot are accepted but not when these images have their sources.

Please @manuelhooks, help guide her through all the process I have listed above so that it will help her speedy verification also teach her how to properly source images.
