What is the name of your country? How many languages can be found in your country?

My country's name is Bangladesh. My country has a total of forty-nine languages as mentioned in textbooks. But languages are common according to caste and religion. There are some languages that differ by society and tribe. We fought for language. We are the only country in the world that has given blood for language.

Among the listed languages in your country, how many are you familiar with?

I am familiar with three of the languages listed in my country. My mother tongue is Bengali. We speak and learned Bengali since birth. Bengali is our mother tongue. Most people of our country speak the Bengali language. However, there has been a slight change in the Bengali language area. For example, the people of the Chittagong region speak the Chittagong language. The Bengali language is spoken with a little change. Similarly, Sylhet people speak the Sylhet language. People of the Noakhali region speak the Noakhali language. But the root form of all languages is the Bengali language.

Then, I had to learn the Arabic language because of religion. Most of the people in our country are Muslims. So after birth, we are taught Arabic language along with Bengali language. Our religious book Quran is written in Arabic language. So, I learned Arabic as a child. Everyone in my family has learned Arabic. Most of the Muslims in our country are taught Arabic after birth.

Then, there are the tribal languages of our country. Tribes live in different regions of our country. Each of them has its own language. For example, there are Manipuri, Saotali, and Chakma languages. These languages are mostly used in hilly areas.

How has this language improved/helped your life and business?

The mother tongue of our country is Bengali. We express our thoughts in the Bengali language. We do everything from the office to shopping in the Bengali language. Because we all speak Bengali, we can understand each other's words. We speak Bengali language in our business organization so linguistic advantage is available in business.

As my mother tongue is Bengali, I speak Bengali in various job interviews. Then schools, colleges, and universities were taught in Bengali. Bengali language is used in office courts and various events so everyone can join fluently.

Are you willing to teach your children these languages? Yes/No. State your reason.

Yes, I am teaching my children to speak Bengali. Since birth, our children are learning Bengali by listening to their mother. Because Bengali language is our mother tongue. We can speak Bengali fluently. Bengali language is the main language of our country.

People of our country were martyred for the Bengali language in 1952. The Urdu language of the then-West Pakistan was declared as the state language of Bangladesh. Then, the people of East Pakistan i.e. Bangladesh protested to make Bengali the state language. Many people were martyred in police firing. Later the state language of our country was declared as Bengali. So, as the national language of our country is Bengali, I am teaching my child Bengali language.

Mahadi, your post beautifully captures Bangladesh's rich linguistic tapestry. The pride in your mother tongue, Bengali, resonates, and your commitment to passing it on to your children is admirable, considering the sacrifices made for its recognition. Your multilingual proficiency, especially in Arabic, enhances your cultural and religious connections, enriching both personal and business interactions. Allah Hafez! 👏
Success on your entry.

Hello! 🌟😄

How interesting it is to learn about the linguistic diversity in Bangladesh! It's impressive that the country has forty-nine languages, and it's especially significant how the struggle for the Bengali language has left a mark in history.

It's great that you speak three languages in your country: Bengali, Arabic, and tribal languages. The significance of each in different contexts, whether cultural, religious, or regional, is fascinating.

I like how you highlight the relevance of Bengali in your daily life and business. The connection with national identity through language is indeed valuable.

It's wonderful that you're teaching your children Bengali, especially considering the history and the struggle to make this language the national state. Preserving language and culture is a significant gift for future generations.

Thank you for sharing your experience in the Steem4Nigeria community challenge! Do you have any funny anecdotes related to languages that you'd like to share? 😄🌍

My Sweet Friend,
It is really beautiful seeing Bangladesh from your eyes. I love how you all are multilingual in nature. And how we see it very necessary to teach and transmit them to our children.
I wish you the best in your context. Go and win.

Greetings @mahadisalim,

Certainly! It's wonderful that you are preserving and passing on our mother tongue, Bengali, to your children. The historical significance of the language in our country adds even more value to its preservation. Thank you for such a wonderful presentation of our mother tongue Bangla. We are proud Bangladeshi✌️ .

Estimado amigo. Es algo complejo esa mezcla del idioma por nacimiento y el idioma religioso, pero es bueno que te sepas manejar en esos ambientes y dominar ambos idiomas y sobretodo enseñárselo a tus hijos. Bendiciónes para ti
