Let's show how creative you are:- Drawing - Crockroach

Warm greetings to y'all my fellow steemians, I must say that this week so far is going great for me, and I believe its going well for you all too. It's obviously another chance to be creative, this time around we are all instructed to draw a Cockroach, one of the most seen and annoying insect in this part of the world Nigeria. Yes cockroaches🪳 are annoying little creatures, and any sight of them obviously means that such environment is unkept and dirty, and probably need to be cleaned. Many individuals today try as much as possible to eradicate insects like cockroaches 🪳 from their home, and one way they do this is by spraying insecticide in their homes, one reason for their actions is because cockroaches are major carriers of illnesses and sicknesses like: Salmonellosis, Typhoid Fever, and Cholera etc especially when it perches on humans eatable items like food and water. In as much as, cockroaches are a bad omen in the human environment, they play a very noteworthy role in our ecosystem. Without beating around the bush, Below are my drawing presentations:

Firstly I took a clean sheet of paper 🗞️, a pencil ✏️, the and eraser. These are basically the tools I need to start draw the cockroach 🪳.

I began by drawing the head of the cockroach, i also drew it prothorax. The head of the cockroach constitutes it's antenna, compound eyes, labrum, and pulp.

At this juncture, I have drawn the cockroach thorax, wings, and abdominal region. I also have to shade it's wings to make them more realistic.

After much pencil shading, erasing work, below is the result, I hope the cockroach is becoming more realistic.

At this stage, I have drawn one of the cockroach fore legs, one of its middle legs, one of its hind legs, and one of its anal cercus. A cockroach is known to have 6 legs, and 2 anal cercus.

At this stage, I've drawn the cockroach other legs. I guess our cockroach is really coming to life. I kind of feel, something is missing 🤔. Oh yes, I forgot to include it's antenna.

At this point, I have included the cockroach antennas. A cockroach has two antennas. Recent studies shows that a female cockroach possess longer antennas compared the male cockroach. Well I guess mine is a female cockroach, because it's antenna are long enough. I still fell something is missing. Oh yes! A shadow, to give the idea that the cockroach is on the floor or probably perches on a wall.

At long last, we have for ourselves a cockroach. It really took a lot of pencil shading and erasing to get the cockroach shadow right. I think the drawing is okay the way it is now, what do y'all think.

It is undoubtedly true to say that anyone who sees a cockroach, automatically sorts out a way to kill it, either by stepping on it, or by whipping it with a broom 🧹 or something else. In as much as the cockroach is an unwanted insect whether in homes, offices or else where, they possess so features which makes them unique. Below are some of them:

1. Survivability: cockroaches are strong and resilient creatures known for there ability to survive in harsh and extreme conditions and environment with inconvenient temperature, and radiation exposure. Cockroaches can survive for long period even without food or water.

2. Adaptability: cockroaches posses reputable adaptability qualities, both in the kind of environment they happen to find themselves, and also in the kind of food there survive on. Cockroaches can live in various tropical forests, and urban habitats. Originally cockroaches feed on a wide range of organic matter.

3. Reproduction Rate: within a short period of time, an adult female cockroach can reproduce dozens of offspring. Typically this high reproductive rate nature of theirs ensures that their population remains reborn even after facing remarkable setbacks.

4. Feeding Habits: Cockroaches feed on decayed matter, a times they feed on food scraps. Cockroaches are scavengers, and can consume almost anything. Their versatility in diet, enables them thrive in diverse ecosystems.

5. Pest Status: Cockroaches are pest in the human environment, this is so because of their ability to trigger allergies and potentially spread diseases, despite them playing an important role in nutrient recycling in their natural habitats.

1. Food Source: In itself, cockroaches form an essential part of the food chain, they serve are food for various predators like reptiles, birds, amphibians, and other superior insects.

2. Habitat Engineers: Studies have shown that, their is a specie of cockroaches which builds burrows in the form of nest buried underground. This burrows overtime aerates the soil and improve drainage. This action no doubt influences soil structure and also help the natural environment provides the support growing plants deserves.
