Hello, my wonderful friends; how are you all doing? Hope you are all doing well. I am so happy to participate in the contest titled Some Disgusting Traditions of my Country, And I want to thank @okere_bleesing for this nice contest.
Tradition can be defined as the custom or belief which is been passed from one generation to the other.
Do you believe in all the traditions of your country? If yes, prove, No, share your thoughts with us.
No, I don't believe in all the traditions of my country because there are some traditions that our forefathers were doing, but some of them are no longer needed.
For instance in my country, when s female child is been born, many men will come to seek their hand in marriage, a girl that is not up to a year old, and sometimes, when the child's father sees that a lot of men is seeking for his daughter's hand in marriage he will just say that any Man that will make the highest amount will marry her daughter when she grows up.
One old man will come out saying he will give one thousand naira, and the girl will be betrothed to him.
The reason I don't like this tradition is that the girl will grow up one and be getting married to a man who is old enough to be his grandfather.
So I don't believe in this particular tradition.
Can you mention at most 3 Disgusting traditions of your country that you forbid and why?
Betrothed: a girl should be allowed to make a choice in marriage, not the parents selling him or her due to the person's money. Because any marriage that lacks happiness can never last longer.
masquerade: some scary masquerades should come out in the daytime because little children can easily dream about their faces and how ugly the masquerade looks. So I forbid scary masquerades so much because of how little children always behave whenever they see it.
Another one is marrying your brother's wife when your brother dies: This particular tradition is the one I forbid the most because it is disgusting; how can you marry your brother's wife simply because he is late this tradition should be stopped.
Are traditions in your country still held in high esteem, or are they fading away?
Tradition in my country is now fading away because it is not as strong as it was before, the reason is that different kinds of churches are now coming into my country, so some traditions which are not good are now fading away.
What are those occasions that demand traditions to be performed before they become legal?
One of the occasions that demand tradition to be performed or become legal is marriage.
For a girl to be officially married in my country, traditions must be involved; even after going to church to do weddings and other things, you must marry in traditional ways for your marriage to be legal. Like paying the bride price.
Share your favorite country's tradition of all time.
My favorite country tradition is wrestling; during the Christmas period, we always gather in our village to watch people wrestling, and we always have enough fun because different kinds of people will come just to watch and praise the winner.
So this is my favorite tradition in my country.
Thanks for reading my post
I want to invite @simonnwigwe, @josepha, and @bonaventure24 to also join this contest

Indeed they are horrible tradition in our country that our forefathers were practicing, for instance the killing of twin and other bad tradition that were ruining tue lives of innocent individuals.
Christianity have wiped away all those bad traditions.
