Introduction
Hello friends I am so happy to come across this contest organized by our Nigeria community steem4nigeria, presently we are really going through alot in our country Nigeria and is really affecting we the business owners.
Fuel hike and the new Naira redesign policy has really affected us in so many ways, but at times I do forget about myself and start thinking about the less privileged, how do they manage to survive the present condition? okay let's talk about those in the village that have many children to take of which some of them were depending on their farm work and they use the little they have to buy things like fish and the rest, then what happens to them now?
The fuel hike is something else, the increase in transportation is something else just imagine the load that I was paying 4000 naira I am now paying 9000 Naira, for example a bag of onions I was paying 5000 naira for before I'm now paying 11,000 naira which is really affecting us.
Just imagine the other day I was passing by NNPC filling station along Itam here in Uyo the capital of Akwa Ibom I saw alot of
Queue and when I asked the driver he told me the price has been reduced, now adays people prefer to even trek to where ever they are going to.
Just imagine buying your own money, you can imagine withdrawing 10,000 naira and you will be charged 4000 naira as withdrawal fee, is just too much for us. Do you know that if you want to cook a good pot of soup 10k is not enough, though the cashless policy is good in a little way because it has really helped us to manage our spending, now a days we don't experience arm robbery in our environment because if they come they won't see anything to steal, and it helps when we are traveling to buy goods but it affects us when we want to sell because the village sellers don't know anything about transfer.
One day I went to the bank to deposit some money then I saw so many people being stranded because there was no money in the ATM machine.
Do you think the country's present situation was politically motivated due to the upcoming elections or targeted at anyone?
For me the present situation was both politically motivated and targeted at some people. It was politically motivated in the sense that most politicians hoard millions if not billions of naira in various accounts or build houses and store the money there, it was targeted at some people which I will refer to as the "Yahoo Boys", I can remember that some time last year the CBN Governor warned Nigerians seriously against squandering the naira because it really reduced and affected the price of the naira in the international market, at some point the naira was 745 for a dollar which is very disheartening.
But my prayers is that God should give us a good leader because Nigeria is too big to be lead by a weak person
And another observation is that they are doing it to encourage online banking, you can see before we didn't take online banking as anything, so its just for us to be a little patient, very soon every thing will return to normal.
Do you have a better solution to these issues and possible ways to help alleviate the sufferings observed around you? (Share how you've survived this moment)
For I don't have any solution to these problem we are having, I believe after the election everything will go back to normal. All I could say is we should stay indoors if you don't have any important place to go.
How I managed to survive this situation is that I sell on line mostly, I no longer visit places that is not important to me, when I need cash mostly I will ask my customers not to transfer any cash to me, that I need cash and what I observe what my friend did was that she went to filling station and stand, any one that comes to buy fuel she will use her ATM card and buy then collect cash from the person. My advice is to the student, they can use this opportunity and make money for themselves. Since some banks are giving out 10k they can queue and withdraw the cash then sell it and make profit for themselves.
conclusion
So my fellow Nigeria let's try and be safe, these will soon come to an end. I am using this privilege to invite my friends to join me in the contest @okere-blessing, @ekemini5, #natalia3

I'm sorry to hear about the challenges you and many others are facing in Nigeria. The increase in fuel prices and the new Naira redesign policy have certainly caused a lot of difficulties for small business owners and those in rural areas. It's important to consider how these policies are impacting the most vulnerable members of society. It's also interesting to consider whether these policies are politically motivated or targeted at specific groups of people.
As for solutions, it's difficult to say without a thorough understanding of the situation. However, it's important for the government to consider the impact of their policies on the people and find ways to mitigate the negative effects. It's also important for individuals to find ways to adapt and cope with the situation, such as exploring alternative means of income or finding ways to save money.
