The more we have, the more we want.. It is never enough.
Money has been used since its origin as a medium of exchange. It is a platform through which we can meet our needs. Every man on earth needs money to survive; we can't go to school without money, even when it is a free education. We can't be fed without money; otherwise, we die of hunger.
If money were not good for man, God would not have made it. Maybe we would have something other than money, but He knows we need it for a better life; we need it to prosper. Money was part of God's plan for man. But how did it become the root of all evil?
Do you think money is really the root of all evil, or do you think it's more about how people use money that can lead to bad things happening? |
---|
Money has never been the root of evil, but the lust after money has capitalized on it to be the root of all evil. Money was in God's plan for man, but man's greed for more has brought evil.
It is true that we all love money, yes, but the way most people handle it matters because of money. Killing of brothers, friends, mothers, and innocent babies all because of money. People go so far as to sleep with mad people just to have money; that is extreme evil.
Last week, around my neighborhood, a young girl was caught carrying some schoolchildren from their school to the people who paid her two thousand naira to bring two kids for them. On her way with the kids, she was caught, and those kids were recovered.
This means that even our young ones are in serious danger because of their lust for money. The love for money has done a lot of damage to homes and families. Husbands sleep around today with young girls because they feel they have made enough money to dictate their lives. Wives move around with young boys because of what they feel they can offer. It is really a day of evil.

Can you think of any examples where money has actually done some good, like helping people in need or supporting good causes? |
---|
There are thousands of examples where money has done good, because that is the main reason why money was given to us.
Money has helped some couples who were jobless for years start up a business of their own. They lost their jobs and were feeding from hand to mouth until some contributions were made for them to start up a big business.
Money has helped save the life of a widow who had no one to run to when she fell so ill. The community ran to her aid and assisted her with money to save her life.
I have also seen a man whose wedding was sponsored by friends. When I mean sponsor, I mean from zero to all. Everything, even the wife's wedding gown, was taken care of with money. Money is good!
How do you personally see money in your own life? Do you think of it as a tool to achieve your goals and create opportunities, or do you have a different way of looking at it? |
---|
I see money as a means, not an end, a platform or starting point, not my end point. Money is a means for me to achieve what I've planned to achieve. Like going to school, I used money to achieve that; it wouldn't have been possible for me to attend school without money. It served as a means, but not my end.
Starting a business or working to earn a living is the goal behind money. We set goals in life, and money could help us achieve those goals. With money, we can create opportunities in life for others to also benefit from.
Imagine all the social media platforms where people make cool money per hour. It was set up with money to create today's opportunities for others to benefit.
Have you ever seen situations where people doing anything for money caused problems or made things unfair? |

Yes, I have seen a family where the younger one was worshipped because he made money and returned home to fix the house. He walked with all his ego, and that made his elder one rubbish in the presence of others.
It didn't go well because he was kidnapped just to teach him a lesson because he was almost taking his elder brother's place in life. When he returned home, he humbled himself to respect his senior, despite the money he had.
