You don't need glasses to see that my whole day was filled with joy and admiration of the fact that I met people whom I never believed I would meet throughout my lifetime, the likes of @xkool24, @bonaventure24, @sahmie, @ninapenda, @ruthjoe, their journey to the capital city of Akwa Ibom was a success and I even met @eliany; this put a shiver through my spine. Her upvotes after some minutes of dropping a post surprised me a lot. I must say the journey is becoming more interesting; what my eye saw was more than unbelievable, and I had to sit calm and accumulate some words of wisdom.
I had a view of this meetup a day before but never believed it could materialise into this mind-blowing gathering of reputable steemians. We stormed Oba playground, and we didn't need a formal introduction to tell people who we were; the inscription in front and behind our t-shirts was more than enough. Some persons I came across on the way summed up courage to ask who we were; I had to make an intro. of who we are. I have 101 more publications to make concerning the Steemit meetup because every picture is a story.
I arrived at the meetup venue while the DJ warmed the open space with an afrobeat music interlude; it created a sensation in the environment that something was happening. I met some Steemians close to that basketball pitch taking pictures; as you know, pictures can never be left out of our lives. Newbies, of whom I only came across their username but had never had a face-to-face interaction, were present. Inactive steemians were also here to spur up their interest; yes, surely the truth be told, people are faced with challenges, and it takes motivation to bring them back. Bossj23 did that; his intentions on the presentation of gifts to most Steemians were for a revival, a comeback, while for some, it meant gratitude.
I met a family 💕
There is never a boring moment with Nigerians; we spend time taking personal pictures with funny poses. A call was made that everyone should have their seat; I took my place, and so did others.
The part that brought more motivation, as I said, was when Steemians met, we sat up; definitely, a lot of people were about to sit up from here. The MC, John Mitchel, had the order of events in place, and it began with Ngoenyi. I so much love this woman; her energy, the zeal she has, is massive. Before now, she and Mummy Goodybest have been updating us on the meetup group and the progress in printing the t-shirt and getting foodstuff before the proposed meetup date.
Ngoenyi Words of Wisdom; Why steemit and its benefits |
---|
Ngoenyi spoke first about why Steemit and its benefits; she spoke of how her journey to make money in online spaces failed because they were all Ponzi schemes and a rob Peter to pay Paul scheme and how she got to know about Steemit. She told us that despite the earnings, Steemit is an educational platform. She wasn't interested in the earnings because, at the time of her emergence, Steem wasn't substantial and was equivalent to N60. She also spoke of how she joined Steemit, the conviction, and her mentor focus now, who is no longer in space again. The strategy he used was awesome; he asked Ngoenyi a few questions, of which she became a recruit. How much time did you spend on other social media, and what monetary benefit do you derive? These questions bent her to the knee, and she couldn't help but join Steemit. Everyone had something to say about why they joined Steemit; she gave the mic to some Steemians who aired out the reason they joined Steemit.
Goodybest Words Of Wisdom; Engagement on steemit |
---|
Our steem rep, Ma Goodybest, spoke on engagements. She urges Steemians that they should not forget that Steemit is a blockchain-based social media platform, and just as we engage on this platform, Steemit shouldn't be left out. A lot of people make it a habit to publish a post and leave without engaging. She urges Steemians to try as much as they can to engage in posts. She also mentions that we should always be polite in our comments.
Xkool24 Words Of Wisdom; Promosteem/Mentorship/Ethics |
---|
Xkool24, The founder of Steem4Nigeria, was here; quoting from him directly, he said, For Steem to be promoted, there must be a national meetup. #Meetups are meant to promote Steem. He talked about the promotion of Steemit on Twitter; in addition to his words, we all know Twitter is a social media platform where the number of views or impressions can be seen, and promoting Steem here helps you keep track of people who see your promotion. He made mention of local meetups and their necessity; he urges Steemians to organise local meetups to spur up newbies' interest, as it is seen that they don't seem to last because they feel they are just left in the desert. I can remember vividly what I said in my post some time ago about mentorship; I said your mentor doesn't necessarily need to be who referred you to Steemit; it could be someone else who is experienced, so happy Xkool24 in concurrent said everybody needs to be attached to a senior person. That is true.
I have a lot of mothers here, mummy @eliany
He spoke of the learning challenges; he also mentioned the support of our fellows, as charity begins at home. In addition, I would say a resteem can be helpful; many do not have a good number of followers, so your resteem is important. Nigerian steemians should learn ethics rather than going to space to drag a workforce down; you could meet one-on-one on another platform and air out your opinion; steemians must learn ethics.
In promotion he said mentorship is the key; some even say Steemit is not for everyone; they lose interest, stop writing, or even become tired of writing; they despise consistency. @xkool24 advises Steemians to put their best foot forward; he commended Uyo Steemians, and he said Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Steemians have set a blueprint that other places should follow. Aba, Abia State, was a centre of concentration before, but now Uyo is a blueprint. Xkool24: When I arrived in Uyo, I thought nothing was happening, but the number I see today amazes me.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS SERIES |

Is it our right to ask for a proposed booming support after winning a contest or if we were mentioned for it?
Is it advisable to keep on blogging when powering down, and what should we know about powering down?
A user complained that his recruit was not verified quickly in the newcomer's community as others were, so the question was what should be done to get newcomers verified.
If, for instance, I don't have a mentor on Steemit or who brought me in, does it mean I will not be verified?
I need more clarity on the Pusscoin. What is Pusscoin, and why do we have its promotion on the Steemit blockchain?
Is there anything wrong with owning two accounts? Is duplicating an account the same as owning two accounts?
Is it advisable to play pranks on newbie keys, like initiating a withdrawal of steems so they will learn to keep their keys safe? Is it ethical to play such pranks?
Is it advisable to levy a newbie for recruitment?
The questions were more elaborate than this; I tried to make it concise. The answers to these questions were given by those in the hightable, and if possible, I would love them to drop it here. @benton3 @ngoenyi @goodybest @xkool24, etc.
The last session was the price distribution officiated and sponsored by @bossj23. More than 25 steemians received a present, some a portrait of themselves; I received a wristwatch, which has so much significance, and lastly item 6, which was refreshment. All types of drinks were available; it was left for individuals to choose their poison.
