Our voluntary journey to clean our city began at 9:00 AM as the morning sun rose, bathing the streets in a soft glow.
In our city khezama at Sousse Tunisia, Armed with gloves, trash bags, shovels, and an unshakable sense of purpose, we gathered at a central meeting point, greeted by a quick briefing on the day's activities.
By 9:30 AM, we split into teams, each assigned to a specific area of the city. The first task was to tackle the main roads,
where we meticulously collected scattered garbage—plastic wrappers, bottles, and other debris.
The satisfying crunch of brooms against the pavement set the rhythm for the morning, accompanied by the chatter and laughter of teammates.
By 11:00 AM, we shifted our focus to sidewalks and neglected alleys, determined to leave no corner untouched.
As trash bags filled and were hauled to collection points, the visible transformation of the streets energized us to keep going.
At 12:30 PM, we paused for a well-deserved lunch break, sharing sandwiches, drinks, and stories of interesting finds from the cleanup.
Refreshed and motivated, we resumed work at 1:30 PM, turning our attention to beautifying the city.
In the afternoon, we focused on planting flowers and trees in parks and open spaces.
By 2:00 PM, shovels were digging into the earth, and small saplings were carefully placed into freshly dug holes.
Vibrant flowers added bursts of color to the previously dull and neglected spots. A sense of satisfaction bloomed alongside the greenery as we envisioned how these small efforts would grow into lasting beauty.
By 4:00 PM, we shifted to cleaning up litter along riverbanks and playgrounds, ensuring these community spaces were safe and welcoming for everyone.
The final stretch of the day, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, was dedicated to touching up any areas that needed extra attention and collecting tools and materials. Exhausted but exhilarated, we gathered one last time at our meeting point, reflecting on the progress we had made.
The streets were spotless, the parks freshly adorned with flowers, and the new trees stood as symbols of hope and care for our environment.
As the sun dipped lower in the sky, we parted ways, knowing that our collective effort had left an indelible mark on the city we all call home.
