When friends betray me

The word Betrayal according to my understanding is the act of deliberate or intentional breaking of a person's trust, confidence, or loyalty on you. It involves the act of either deceive, lies, or misrepresentation of an information to gain an advantage over someone, this act is usually carried out for selfish and personal goal achievement.

Cheating on your faithful partner, going outside your promise or rejecting an obligation to someone, failing to keep confidential information secret, and treachery are all forms of betrayal.

Betraying someone who has trusted you with either his personal information, asset, etc is capable of ruining a good relationship you have with that person, you will loss the trust the person has for you and lastly, your reputation will be damaged.

Yes! I have been betrayed by one of my girlfriends that I trusted so much.

This is what happened!!
My girlfriend called me one faithful morning during my 200level and asked me to borrow her twenty thousand naira and promised to pay back in two days time. According to her,, she needs that amount of money for an emergency needs and she has asked virtually everyone but she was unable to get helped.

So she decided to contact me to see if she will get help from me. Before I borrowed her that money,, I made it clear to her that it is part of my school fees and I will be needing it in the next two days. And she promised to pay back in the morning to unable me pay my fees because my exams will be starting in the next three days.

Out of love and trust that I have for her as my girlfriend, I decided to borrow her the twenty thousand naira she asked for out of my school fees. But something shocking really happened, this same lady I trusted so much betrayed my trust after she had collected the money from me.

She did not call me after I sent her the money,, and immediately it was two days I decided to call her and ask for my money because I really needed to pay my school fees that day. To my greatest surprise,, I found out that this lady blocked me on all her social media page, and my number from calling as well.

I kept on trying her number the whole day but all I kept seeing was User Busy.... that was when it downed on me that she blocked me so I won't be able to reach her. I felt so hurt, heartbroken and betrayed by a trusted friend. But thank God I was able to sort my self out, I later paid the fees even though it was late and I was able to write my semester examination.

There are several ways one can heal from heartbreak that comes with betrayal,,

• The first and easiest way one can heal from such betrayal is to accept the situation as it is,, by so doing, you will be able to heal from it.

• Engage in activities that brings you so much joy,, such as listening to music, exercising or spending time with nature.

• Set boundaries between you and the person that betrayed you,, so as to protect yourself from any form of harm or betrayel again.

• You could consider seeing a therapist,, for professional counseling and strategies as well.

• Any lastly,, forgiveness is very important in terms of healing,, you should forgive for your peace of mind not necessarily for the sake of the person who betrayed you. Letting go of the hurts can help you heal faster and move forward easier.

How do you deal with people who have broken your heart several times?

The way I deal with people who have broken my heart several times is to distance myself from them and set boundaries between us,, to avoid or limit the chances of being hurt over again.

Another thing I usually do is speak to those people who have broken me several times in a direct and clear way,, good communication and forgiveness is key!
