If you don't want unholy fires to erupt in your heart and home spontaneously, do not spend any length of time in the company of an old flame, especially alone, worse still in a private place and at night. If you must be in their company for whatever reason, be with a chaperone who you are accountable to, preferably your spouse.
No matter your intentions, the old flame knows what works and what doesn't work in getting to your mind and heart. The reason he or she is called an old flame is because he or she has previously successfully ignited your fires. It is easier for them to do it again without hiccups and delays and you are amenable to their charms as your logs recognise that flame.
They hold the back door key to your emotions and the only way to ensure security of that back door is to change the lock by recognising the issues I have addressed and giving a wide berth to those old flames.

Being born again, we are expected to cut old bridges of old flames. You don’t keep bridges while the enemies are looking to have access to you. Cut all links so you can be focused in your pilgrims journey, bearing on you flames of godly fire that is able quench the ferry dearth of the enemy, Satan the devil.
