It's my pleasure to extend a warm greeting to all the members of this community. I'll be talking about an animal that's unpopular, yet fascinating - Hyrax. The thing about nature is, there are so many things in it. If we can take time to study them, it can prove to be awe inspiring. Back to the main gist, Hyrax

The Hyrax is also called dassie, or rock rabbit. It is a furry animal that looks like a fat guinea pig with round eyes but without a tail. The toes of the animal is stompy and it's nails, hoof like.

There are three Hyrax species. Two of them are referred to as rock Hyrax, why the other one is called tree Hyrax.

The rock Hyrax is the most distributed Hyrax specie in Africa. It's coat is yellowish, or grayish brown. It has a dorsal spot which is a place on the back covered with longer hair, and it's head is more rounded than other species of hyraxes. It also has a blunt nose.

Another specie of Hyrax is the Yellow spotted Hyrax or the rock Hyrax. It has sharp, pointed, rodent like nose, unlike the first Hyrax we talked about. It's dorsal spot is covered with white or yellow hair. It is often seen among other species of Hyrax although THEY DO NOT INTERBREED.

Lastly, the tree Hyrax. As the name implies, they are mostly found on trees. They are mostly targeted by hunters due to the fact that they have thick, long hair.
