No pain, no gain is an old popular idiom often used to describe the fact that nothing good comes easy. It is a simple term with such in-depth meaning, people often use as a proverb. No pain, no gain , what does it mean?

DEFINITION OF THE TERMS; PAIN AND GAIN

PAIN

This is any feeling of discomfort we experience when faced in an unpleasant situation. It is basically the feeling we experience when we are hurt, causing us discomfort and distress. The concept of pain are often learnt through life experiences. Pain is a personal feeling. What one my consider as painful may mean nothing to another.

However, considering the topic at hand, I believe the pain we are talking about is one's sweat or effort. It is the effort, struggle, or hardwork an individual put into achieving something. It is no new knowledge that, to achieve or accomplish a task or goal, one has to out in a considerable amount of hardwork, dedication, effort, self discipline e.t.c. Such an individual has to deny his/herself of so many pleasures to achieve such goal.

GAIN

This means accomplishments, achievements or things we have successfully acquired due to our competence and hardwork. Gain can be anything ranging from money, cars, phone, wealth or having a good job. The bottom line remains that, as far as such achievements is gotten from one's own effort and hardwork, it is considered as gain. Even a very little accomplishments or success can be a great gain to someone else ho has put in a lot of effort in acquiring such thing.

WHAT DO YOU UNDERSTAND BY THE STATEMENT

The statement, No pain, no gain, I believe means for you to gain anything worth it in life, you must put in a considerable amount of effort. You must deny yourself of so many pleasures, you must put yourself in an uncomfortable position to attain what you seek.

Yes! Indeed I concur with the statement, No pain, No gain, for the following reasons ;

  • The idiomatic expression, "No pain No gain" is in line with the law of sowing and reaping. Whatsoever a man sows, so shall he reap. When we put in our sweat and effort, pass through the pains even. We are indirectly sowing a seed whereby the gains we will get from such actions is the fruit we will reap in the nearest future.

  • Secondly, the statement No pain,no gain aligns with the fact that nothing good or noteworthy comes easy. An individual, first have to pass through the trials and test before he/she can come out successful in whatsoever endeavour.

SHARE AN EXPERIENCE FOR OR AGAINST THE STATEMENT

One peculiar experience I had that indeed taught me the lesson "No pain, no gain" would be the time I ventured into online businesses.

In these recent times where there happen to be various fraudsters and fake online businesses every where. I was unfortunate to fall a victim of such scam. The online business I ventured into was the kind that offer stuffs like 1k for 20k or something like that. They promised me, 200k, if I invested 30k and I went along with it.

However, before then, I was advised not to invest such amount of money, that such kind of thing was unrealistic. My parents who were always doubtful of online businesses also said, according to their words "nothing good comes easy my dear" They said it was unrealistic to get such amount of money for just little investment without doing anything worthwhile for it. That life doesn't work that way.

But I refused, being blinded by the huge gain and profit. So I used up my last savings to invest in it. To cut the long story short, I never got my money back nor the supposed gain I was blinded by.
