Introduction

Hi steemians! Hope everyone is fine today and I also hope everybody has cleaned him/her gutters. I will love to share a brief story of my part in keeping my environmrent clean and I thank @ngoenyi for organizing this contest again.

My part in keeping the environment clean

Today is Thursday as we all know, Thursday morning is day of sanitation in the community Rukpokwu here in Portharcourt that I live/work in. All the shops are not expected to open until is 10am after the sanitation has been concluded.

Different people clear the gutters that's in front of their shops close to the major road, they make use of shovels, wheelbarrows and most especially rake. Any owner of shop who fails to do this, will get punished by the community environmental committee.

The role I played

This morning I came to the shop quite late, I arrived 25 minutes past 10 and luckily for me my boss hasn't come yet 😇😇. On my way to the shop I saw different people cleaning their gutters while some were already done cleaning.

I opened the shop and dropped my bag, I carried our barbing salon sign board outside and fixed the bulbs in their various positions outside. I swept the shop and cleaned the mirrors and I did alot of things.

As soon as I was done, I quickly went to look for rake, I did this without wasting time because no one will be looking after the shop for me. I didn't see any rake, the ones I saw wasn't available, the owners were still making use of it.

My neighbor finally came and I borrowed her rake and cleaned the gutter in our frontage immediately so that my boss wouldn't know I was just coming. I tried my best to make it clean but rake wasn't enough, i needed shovel to dig out the sands inside. Since shovel wasn't available, I continued with the take for a while and returned it before I finally washed my hands.

Reason I chose to do it

The following are reasons for doing this;

• To keep my environment clean.
• To prevent being embarrassed by environment committee members
• To feel among others who cleared theirs 🤣.
• To obey my boss who instructed me to clean the gutter today, last night.

Conclusion

Keeping our environment clean is very good, we don't need to only keep our homes clean but our place of work and other places also needs to be cleaned thoroughly. Am glad I was able to finish everything before my immediate boss came, he's not the owner of the shop, he's the barber teaching me the work. Thanks for reading.
