LYDIA POV

The air in the boardroom crackled with tension, thick enough to choke on. Across the polished mahogany table sath Scott Mcall, CEO of King the land company, a man whose name was synonymous with power and wealth. He was a titan, a force of nature, and Lydia Martins, his secretary, felt like a fragile butterfly caught in his wake.

"This is a business proposition, Lydia," Scott said to me, his voice a low rumble that sent shivers down my spine. "Nothing more, nothing less."

I swallowed, my throat dry. "I understand, Mr. Mcall."

"Good," he said to me, his gaze piercing. "Because I need you to be clear on this: this is a contract, not a relationship."

He leaned forward, his eyes holding mine. "My grandmother, a woman of formidable will, has made a rather… unconventional request. She wants me to marry." Scott added
I blinked, my mind struggling to process this sudden turn of events. Scott Mcall, the most eligible bachelor in the city, wanted to marry? And his asking me, his secretary, to be his bride?

"I… I don't understand," I stammered.

"It's simple," Scott replied, his voice smooth as silk. "My grandmother has a controlling interest in king the land company. She's threatened to sell it if I don't marry within the year. And she's made it clear that she wants a woman who is… discreet."

He paused, his gaze lingering on me. "You, Lydia, are the perfect candidate." He said looking and poining at me

I felt a wave of nausea wash over me. This was insane. I was a nobody, a small-town girl who had come to the city to make a life for herself. And now I was being asked to marry the most powerful man in the city, a man who saw has nothing more than a pawn in his game. This thought kept running in my mind

"I… I can't," I manage to say, my voice barely a whisper.

Scott's lips curved into a sardonic smile. "You have no choice, Lydia. This is a business deal. You get a hefty sum of money, a comfortable life, and a chance to escape your past. I get a wife, a way to appease my grandmother, and the security of my company." He said proudly to me

He leaned back in his chair, his eyes cold and calculating. "It's a win-win situation."
Scott felt trapped, my mind racing. I knew I should refuse, that this was a terrible idea. But the thought of a comfortable life, a life free from the struggles she had faced, was too tempting to resist.i said to myself.

"What are the terms?" I asked, my voice a mere tremor.

Scott's smile widened. "We'll draw up a contract. A prenuptial agreement, of course. And a clause stating that we will maintain a strictly professional relationship. No emotional attachments, no personal involvement. Just a business arrangement." He said without mincing words.

He paused, his gaze intense. "And one more thing, Lydia. We'll have a one-night stand, just to make it seem more… authentic."he said moving his eyes to my labs.
I felt a wave of revulsion wash over me. This was beyond anything I could have imagined. But i knew I had to do this. I had to take this chance, this opportunity to escape my past and build a better future.

"I accept," I said, my voice barely audible.

Scott's smile was predatory, his eyes gleaming with triumph. "Good," he said. "Let's get started.”

I felt a chill run down my spine. I had just made the biggest mistake of my life. I said to myself. But I had no choice. I had to play this game, this dangerous game, and hope that I can survive it. I added

It's wasn't really the best decision for me but it's seems like I do not have a choice, it's a contract that will change my life for good, what if his grandmother finds out the marriage is fake I might stand the chance of loosing my job I have nobody to cater my needs but anyways Scott McCall isn't a child. I said to myself.

I kept staring at him wondering why he will choose me his secretary to sign a contract marriage with him, Scotts had never been nice to me, apart from being handsome and good looking, he has the heart of a monster, I'm not judging him but I'm only describing according to his behavior towards me his secretary and other staffs.
He might be wondering why I'm staring at him so I decided to look away.

Lydia. He called me, his voice very deep but this time a little soft.
The papers will be ready in a month time, you don't have to tell anyone in the company or outside about our business, I called it business we are both benefiting Lydia, I know you are smart girl that's why I choose to do this business with. He said.

Wondering why a heartless guy like Scott will summit so much to his grandmother's demands anyways his grandmother might be just like him, though I haven't seen her before but I have heard other staffs said she do come to the company but I haven't met her before.

We don't need to be too far from each other again our closeness start now Lydia then we get sign the contract marriage, He said standing to sit beside me. You don't have to worry I won't maltreat you, I will give you the best life style, you will look hot and sexy like other ladies. He added

It's time to go Mr Scott McCall. I said to him, I have some things to tidy up in the house against tomorrow.

I take a cab. I replied.
