Marriage as we all know is a legal and serious union between two individuals as husband and wife or partners in the relationship.

Marriage being a serious and formal affair, should involve various qualities such as communication and transparency from both parties.

Transparency talks about openness. It's the quality or ability to be open, free, vulnerable and without secrets.
Transparency works hand in hand with honest and good communication

Transparency is a very important and necessary quality in all forms of relationships including marriage.
Transparency in marriage means absolute honesty, obvious and open accounts, mutual understanding, comfortably letting your guard down. All these promotes trust, accountability and a healthy marriage.

A relationship founded on transparency where the individuals involved feel safe enough to be vulnerable and completely free with their thoughts, ideas, opinions and feelings is more likely to last longer as compared to one with no transparency.

What should be done here largely depends on the kind of secret which was hidden and the parties involved.
In a case that involves a trivial or ignorable secret, communication could come to play where the parties talk about it freely to ensure it doesn't happen again.

In another case where the secret kept is considered a very vital information which should have been earlier communicated, this could ruin the relationship because at this point, the level of trust is drastically reduced. At this point communication also works well. Those involved discuss about it and try to come up with a solution to fix it. If this goes through, trust might be lost but with enough time and improved transparency, it will be gained again.

Yes! I have been in a relationship that lacked transparency, a business relationship though where most vital information an employee should be apprised with were kept away from my reach.

Being in such relationship with no transparency was frustrating. I tried speaking with managements and authorities to see how it could be resolved or reasonable improved and my thoughts were considered and the issues received immediate attention.

Truth wants out and like they say, nothing is hidden under the sun.
Truth can be suppressed or hidden for a long while but definitely not forever.

Just like the experienced Gautama Buddha said, “Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth”
Truth always finds it's way out!
