THE FOOTBALL TEAM IN MY VILLAGE

One of the greatest and oldest sport to man is football. This is a sport played by two teams of 11 players in a football pitch. This sport is recognised around the world. People see as an exercise but some set of people used this sport as a source of income.

This is achieved by participating in major leagues like UEFA champions league, premier league, la Liga, etc and in cups like FIFA world cup, confederation of African football (CAF),etc. The organizers will then rewards the top teams or team will first place with cash prizes and others things.

Football has recorded the names of people great and popular. The likes of it is

• Cristiano Ronaldo,
• Lionel Messi, - Kylian Mbappe,
• Roberts Lewandoski, etc. Football is a global sport, so it is recognised in my village of origin.

My village of origin is Mbiabong Ikot Antem. Some boys formed a football team. They called the team "Ikot Antem FC". They have a coach who also act as a referee in their training session.

I will oppurtuned to go to one of their training session. The session was supervised by their coach. It is usually 4.30pm and the boys came out early. I learnt that the day of their training we're Mondays Tuesdays Thursdays Fridays and Saturdays. The training session starts with a warm-up.

After at least 5 minutes the real match begin. Since the players are more than 20, they coach decided they will play a kind of football called "Sets". This is a type in which the players are grouped in 4,5 or as the case may be. The players were grouped in 5 and group we're 4 or 5 groups.

The rule of the set is that the first team to score a number of goals has won the other making another group to replace the losing team. And the process repeated itself continuously. There is a stimulated time that if the two teams draw, there will go for a penalty shootout.

The boys has proven their strength, agility, speed and ball control while playing. Ikot Antem FC have contested in Etoi Football Competition which was sponsored by Sir Wilker Jackson. They took second place in the tournament. In the future, they will be picked up by major football clubs.

Teams like Manchester City, Liverpool, Barcelona and the rest will pick interest in them because of their passion. I think they will be counted as one of the greatest players in football.
