INTRODUCTION

I would like to appreciate this community for organising this kind of contest. This is a very practical topic, and I'm glad to be a part of the contest.
Please sit tight, as we go through this.

WHAT ARE THE MISTAKES YOU THINK YOU HAVE MADE SINCE YOU WERE BORN?

I’ve made mistakes as a person. Mistakes are and will always be there. But one thing is that they are always forgivable if we apologise and repent of it genuinely. I’ve made mistakes of assuming and jumping to conclusions with my assumptions, which happened to be the worst of mistakes I made. This is the outstanding mistake I can think of right now since I was born.

Another is the mistake of thinking that a child could only be corrected with the cane. So when I saw parents who were not spanking their kids, I was unsatisfied with the way they treated their kids. But the truth is, there is a way better and more correct on how to discipline kids. A balanced method is what I didn’t know until later.

DO YOU THINK IT IS YOUR PAST MISTAKES THAT ARE AFFECTING YOUR GROWTH IN LIFE?

It has not really affected my growth, but to a little extent it has. Like I mentioned before, I used to assume a lot, and that’s exactly what I want to talk about. I had a friend that I was very close to once. I almost depended on her for everything. I waited for her before I could eat, I waited for her to show up before I could go the library to study or do most of the things I needed to do. It even got to a point where I almost didn’t take my studies seriously because of always waiting for her to come around or study with her. And I realized that each time I waited, she’d come up with an excuse that would make me not to study that day.

I later saw her with another friend of hers coming out from the library and I got upset. Since then, I learned not to wait for people before doing what I could actually do myself. I almost failed my exams, but I’m glad I woke up while there was still time to do the needful.

DO YOU ALWAYS BLAME PEOPLE OR YOURSELF FOR MAKING MISTAKES, AS NO ONE IS PERFECT?

I used to blame people so much. I blamed the other party every single time something didn’t go the way I expected it. This got me into a big disagreement with my friend. We were so close, but I guess I didn’t value our friendship like I should’ve. I was so used to her and happy each time we were together, but I was just too selfish with our friendship that I didn’t want someone else to be as close to her as I was.

But it got to a point where I noticed another person was becoming too close to her, so I blamed her for allowing it, and I got angry. I later figured out it was me who made the mistake of assuming another place had taken my place, as I allowed it get to me and affect our friendship. But she didn’t have a problem with me.

SHARE SOME TIPS FOR OVERCOMING MISTAKES, BOTH PHYSICALLY AND VIRTUALLY.
  • We should be able to learn from our mistakes. Sometimes, we have to commit these blunders ourselves to know how to handle it better next time.

  • We should avoid making assumptions and jump into conclusions immediately.

*It’s not advisable to depend on people too much so we don’t get frustrated with the outcome and make some mistakes that might cost our relationships with people.

  • We cannot always overcome some mistakes, but we can avoid them by planning well too. We have to be prepared for both the good and bad outcome of something so we are in a better position to confront any issue without making a terrible mistake.

CONCLUSION

In summary, mistakes are an inevitable parts of our life that we learn from. If someone is attempting something for the first time, it’s most likely to make a mistake. But we shouldn’t wait until we get consumed by our mistakes. There are mistakes that are avoidable too, we should try hard not to get involved where we know we can avoid them.

I'd like to invite @spanky-dollar, @justiceanietie and @mesola to take part in this contest.
