Nobody would honestly say they've not been stressed about something. But what really caused stress and how can we handle it. This, I have discussed in the post.
Explain stress in your own word
Stress, to me, is the physical reaction we get when we're overwhelmed with pressure, things happening around us or demands we can't handle.
Stress is a typical way our body reacts to change, to an overload of emotions, a fight or flight response we use to cope with the situation. Either we succumb to the stress or we find ways to work around it.
I don't see stress as a good thing. Once I'm overwhelmed with work, I either delegate what I can, do what I can, and leave the rest. Being burnout doesn't help me perform better.
Stress happens due to work deadlines you can't meet up with, Finacial pressures, family issues, relationship problems, and other things. In all life happens, which causes huge stress.
Stress causes too much thinking, health problems, anxiety, high blood pressure, depression, and if unchecked death.
What is the best way to handle stress?
To handle stress, first you can to identify the major sources of the stress you are feeling and build a healthy coping mechanisms to deal with it.
You can practice mindfulness and deep breathing techniques to calm your nerves when you're feeling stressed. Instead of thinking about what's not working, take a deep breath and don't overthink things. Deep breathing every minute now and then goes a long way to calm you down.
Exercise more, eat healthy, and get enough sleep. Physical exercises helps keep your mind from thinking too much and being focused on the task at the moment.
Create a to-do list with realistic goals. Break down how you intend to handle these tasks in order of priorities.
Surround yourself with family and friends that will help you become better. Not people who will even increase the stress for you, but will help you see through every challenge and go out better.
Ensure you take breaks often. Don't overwork yourself. When you're feeling down, take that's break.
Have you been stressed up before ? What caused it and what did you do.
I've been stressed thinking about how to raise money for my project in school. I called few family and friends but was unable to raise the needed amount. Since I knew how to bake and make snacks, I decided to start making them to and distribute to the vendors in school.
When I'm overwhelmed with work, I take a break because I can't kill myself trying to overwork and burn out.
I delegate the tasks I can to my colleagues to handle it, either ask for a time extension on any project I'm working on, and take my time to work on it later.
Do you think stress can solve this life challenges?
Not at all. While, stress is a natural response to the challenges we face in life, it's not the solution to the problem. If not handled well, stress could lead to depression. It could cloud your judgement, hinder the decisions you make at that point.
At this stage, you need calm before you make any decisions. Don't let it escalate but rather find ways to manage it.
What advise can you give to someone that is under stress right now.
Stress is something to every body, sometimes you might not be able to o figure out why or how to manage it.
The very thing you need to do is prioritize self-care. Your mental health is important, so take a step back and focus on your well-being first before anything else. It's okay to talk to a professional. It's okay to ask help from family or friends if needed.
Relax from life worries. Problems doesn't end, so it shouldn't be the reason you overthink yourself into High Blood Pressure.
Be grateful for the things you've been able to achieve, and take things gradually to achieve what needs to be done.
Focus on the positive aspect of your life and transform your mindset, so you don't carry pain and stress instead of letting it go.
Take each day as it comes and focus on the progress you're making, not being perfect.
