With my warm regards and best wishes today I’m going to start my post in the community of Steem4Nigeria. This amazing contest every week is organized by our honorable Sir @benton3. Today our drawing topic is Woodpeecker. This reminds me of a cartoon in my childhood which I loved and enjoyed at noon. The name of the cartoon was "Woody Woodpecker".Without any further ado let's move to our today’s attempt of drawing the Woodpecker.

At the begging of my drawing I drew the head shape of the Wood Pecker. Then I drew its sharp beak.

Hereafter I drew its body shape and drew some feathers on it. Below the head shape, I drew a small circle as the eye shape of the Wood Pecker. At the end shape of its body, I drew its’ long tail.

Under the Wood Pecker I drew a cut trunk of a tree. The trunk drew as the bird was sitting on it. Around the bird drew some leaves.

From here I started coloring my drawing, first I colored the long leaves around the birds. I colored the leaves with yellow ochre. The long leaves around the ground are colored with green color,

The cut trunk I colored the edge with dark brown color and the middle of it colored with yellow ochre.

On the head of the bird I colored some feathers with red color. Around its’ neck some feathers are also colored with red.

The shape beak of it colored with dark grey. Its front parts are also colored with light grey.

The rest of the body is colored with dark grey and the feather into the body is colored with light grey.

At this end step the claws of the bird I also colored with light grey and into the claws the slight trunk is seen which is colored with brown color.

At completing my Wood Pecker drawing with a black pen I wrote the contest name and my user name on the left side and ended up my drawing.

Yes, I have seen this bird Wood Pecker. I’m living in cities here I have never seen this bird but whenever I visit to the village then I see this bird on the branch of a tree. With their sharp mouth, they made holes in the tree. When they made hole into the tree then they made some sounds.
What type of animal is it?
This wood Pecker is belongs to the bird group. It has feathers, wings, and a sharp beak on its mouth. With their sharp beak, they made holes in the trees for finding insects which are their main food for survival. They also made holes in trees to make their nest. These birds can be found in various colors like – red, black, and white.
What are its characteristics and what makes it unique?
Some characteristics of woodpecker are mentored in below -
- With their sharp beak they can drill the wood for finding food or making their nesting sites.
- Their nostrils are covered with some small feathers which help them prevent the wood dust while drilling the wood.
- Their abandoned nests can provide shelter for various kinds of insects, birds, and also many small animals.
- The lifetime of this bird four to twelve years.
