Having loved and lost is something many of us have, or will, experience in life and when it arrives it often brings great sorrow or grief, despondency and pain. For love, many of us have acted rashly, foolishly and certainly against one's feeling of better judgement; It seems like love takes over and many of our more rational behaviours are pushed aside.
Love is a very special emotion; It has the ability to render one so deliriously happy and so desperately sad in equal measure and it often causes behaviours within us that very little else can, or will.
Being in love, or losing it, does not mean we can make excuses to ourselves to absolve our foolish behaviour though, or any acts of cruelty we have committed. Love permits us to find that inner strength, that toughness to rise to our highest standards. It allows us to see our mistakes, to learn from them and to do better.
“There is always some madness in love. But there is also always some reason in madness.” - Nietzsche
